Hi everyone!

I encourage you to try out Tournament of Shadows by KeebyTheKirby. It is a new mod based on Foothold in India, introducing more variety to European rosters and some new mechanics.

You can find it here: Moddb.com

Hi Terciperix!

Sad to see the mod's affected by that bug. But, yeah, things like this happen once in a while in Empire late game. Unfortunatelly, I don't have the will to start dealing with it now. To understand how to fix it, I'd have to inspect your save and detect the moment of the crash.

Hi MuhammadMakhdoomUmar!

Unfortunately, I'm done modding for a while, and development is on hiatus. I have to concentrate on some real life matters. Maybe in future, I will return to it.

Rename the mod file you want to disable, adding `.bak` extension to it's name.

Simply copy tgg_battle_unit_specs_eastern_firing_drills.pack.bak to Empire Total War/data and rename it to tgg_battle_unit_specs_eastern_firing_drills.pack

Hi guest!

Try disabling Darth's groupformations. I think, they might be affecting this.

Hi Whatinaname!

You must not remove the file. You only need to remove the '.bak' extension from it's name.

A demo will probably be just a teaser with a new geopolitical situation, but without new uniforms and tech and with only some limited roster changes. However, in time, I'm going to add everything.

Hi xXAlduin99!

Thank you for appretiation! If you like the mod, consider writing a review in "reviews" section and giving it a rating.

I didn't really modify anything regarding happiness, or present any options in that regard. If higher tier industry building don't lower happiness - then probably it is the same as in vanilla. Or maybe a bug - can't tell rightaway.

This is not a priority now, since I'm working towards releasing a demo of 1830 startpos. However, in future I could possibly return to it and make more options tweaking economy and happiness.

I updated the archive to include fixed flags for MacOS. If you re-download it and apply rolling patches atop, you should have all the flags visible and not glitchy anymore.

Thank you for the kind words, 7ty7!

The version of the map with new territories, which ETW II used previously, indeed led to crashes. However, there are updated versions of that big map, present, for instance, in PUA.

The person, who created the original big map, recently returned to the modding scene, so there is a small possibility he may share his knowledge with the community. If that happens, I expect more mods to adopt the big map.

Hi MuhammadMakhdoomUmar!

I'm close to completing the startpos for the campaign - in that domain, I need to finish automating diplomacy changes. You can check out the political map - it's already done, and I uploaded it to images right before answering you. As soon as I finish with diplomacy and testing, I will release the startpos as a demo.

However, aside from the startpos, I need to start working on:
- New era troop rosters
- New technology
- New icons and models

And that is a lot of effort. I'm working absolutely alone, so these things may take time. I think, I will be releasing them bit by bit, iteratively.

Aside from it, the startpos is also taking more time than it could have because I'm writing automation scripts in order to make startpos changes quick and easy. Using these scripts, any modder will be able to create *any campaign he would like*. In any era, with any diplomacy, any balance of power and geopolitical situation. You probably wonder why there are many different mods, which change rosters, but not that many changing the campaign? This is precisely because modding the startpos used to be hard. I'm going to make it easy for everyone.

So stay tuned! Can't promise to release it quickly, but I'm working on it. The first fruits will soon be there to try out.

Hello! I believe, it does require all the DLCs. They are not many. I think, Empire Total War is sold with all the DLCs included nowadays.

Hi everyone!

I've finally finished helping out Empire II team, fulfilling the duties I've accepted towards myself, and from now on I'm directing all my attention at Foothold in India.

Aside from this, I'm developing automation scripts, which will make editing startpos campaigns easy for every modder. When it's done, the resulting work will be shared with the community together with tutorials and examples.

The 1830 campaign will also be created using this same scripting toolset, and in itself will be a demonstration of it's capabilities.

Stay tuned!

Hi SwordDuelist. It's great to see you still watching the mod. Consider writing a review and rating the mod, if you like what I'm doing!

As for your suggestion, I'm afraid I'm a bit too busy helping Empire II, leading a esf modding research and developing Foothold in India 2.0. I don't think I will return to patching the previous version, at least untill I have some general PoC of 2.0.

However, I checked the files, and both seem to be movies. And they don't change any unit stats, so you can actually safely apply them together with FiI. The trick with the movies is simply to find the correct name, so the pack loads in the correct order. Try renaming them to tgg_units_enh_mid and tgg_units_enh_early accordingly and see if it works. I'm pretty sure it will.

Hi Polishman! I'd say, there is capacity for half or two thirds of the mentioned factions, since I didn't yet discover a good way to add completely new factions to a startpos - the factions here are created by scrificinig existing ones, emergent and non-emergent, mostly American protectorates and natives.

Hi Supyar!

In vanilla it behaves the same. Also, every faction which borders you, is automatically aggressive. You can mitigate that by trying to make an alliance with them or by reducing AI aggression towards player via scripting: it is described in the README.

If you like the mod, I would appreciate if you gave a rating and made a review in the review section! More changes - coming. Although, unsure, how soon exactly. The 1830 campaign is quite ambitious.

By the way, I have a crazy idea - what if I give Guatemala to Belgium in order to save another faction to add in some other place? I understand, they only came in 1842, but still. Would that be historically justifiable?

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since the last update, and I believe some more time will pass before the next one. Because I've been working on an ambitious project: a complete overhaul of Foothold in India - The Great Game 2.0.

I plan to:
- Remake eastern rosters once again, trying to keep the balance between historical correctness and unique playing experience, as well as between players' desires and my personal intuition.
- Implement battle mechanics and artillery pieces/progressions in the style of Napoleon Total War as the standard ones, since they provide a more polished battlefield experience.
- Reduce the number of packages, keeping the reasonable number of options to activate/deactivate.
- Include a playable British East India Company (already done).
- Redesign diplomatic relationships between the eastern factions once again, with that in mind.
- Add options to overhaul economics, minister cultural traits and religious tensions to make playing experience more hardcore, especially with eastern factions.
- And most importantly, I plan to include a proof-of-concept 1830 campaign, with completely different political divisions and factions, featuring French invasion of Algeria, Polish November uprising, Egyptian–Ottoman Wars, Russian wars in the Caucasus, playable Belgium, British India, Colombia, Mexico and Egypt, modern artillery, rifled muskets - and much more.

Now is the best time to jump in with proposals.

Also, unfortunately, I can't do graphical design, so the first version of the 1830 campaign will most probably feature 18th century visuals. If you know anyone who would be interested in helping me find or make the correct models and icons for 19th century units - feel free to write me a message.

Also, if anybody is interested in testing Foothold in India 2.0 or help me develop it - feel free to write me a message!

Also, I launched a poll on which minor factions I should choose to include in 1830 campaign. I wasn't able to find a way to increase the number of playable factions, so I'm trying to remake the existing ones, both playable and emergent. I encourage you to take part!

Well, unfortunately I can't do design, so the first version will most probably be a PoC with 18th century visuals.

Also, unfortunately there is no good way of extending the existing map in Empire, so Africa will remain restricted to the existing regions of Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, Tripoli and Egypt. Although, I'll try to make the most out of them using rebel factions, improved garrisons and unique units.

However, a lot of good stuff, from technical side, can surely be implemented, and that is:
- Remaking the political ownerships of provinces and armies, to represent the 19th century realities
- Remaking diplomatic relationships
- Replacing some factions with others: that way I can sacrifice the existing Native Americans and small Italian states, which historically were conquered by 1830, for more factions in the Balkans, Latin America, India and Middle East; modding startpos is a very tedious task, but when it's done, it's 50% of the job

As for the gameplay, the following things are surely possible:
- Breach loaders
- Gatling guns
- More deadly artillery
- Some very limited technological unit progression; I'm not a fan of the system existing in ETW II, so maybe I'll implement something different, if I find a way; maybe even scripted
- More appropriate tech tree, maybe even ported from Napoleon

Also, I plan to make Napoleon Total War style artillery, formation spacing and battle mechanics tuning - the default ones for the mod. I find Napoleon systems a bit more polished, and it should generally make the battlefield experience smoother.

If you know a designer, who could help me create unit models - and especially icons and info pics in the style of vanilla, or who could simply redo all icons from scratch - please let me know.
