Devblog #5 Sneak Peak

Eenzdy_Studio Blog

Hello,

This week we are excited to show you what we have been working on!

Project Management and Concept Updates

We finally got Fyna’s story, we did a few researches into some aspects, that we had particularly in mind, that will be of a big help for our artist, but there’s still a few details that are being worked on!

Art Updates

This past week our artist focused a little more in the background concepts, as well as trying to figure out which graphic style is the best for our game, a more of a realistic style or a cartoonish one, since we have been having weekly meetings, and we have been advised to go for a more cartoon overall look!

Programming Updates

This week our programmer focused on the falling spikes mechanic, which is practically working, but currently it needs a few improvements, to achieve the desired result! Hopefully we will be able to show this progress, as soon as possible!

Devblog #4 Back in Track

Eenzdy_Studio Blog

Hello,

Today once again we are making sure to update you, on our Fyna's project!

Project Management and Concept Updates

This week went by pretty good actually, we were able to kind of improve our pitch according to all the feedback we got last week, there’s still some stuff that might need some adjustments, but aside from that our team was actually able to get back in track with the project without that much struggle.

We have been pressured to get our game a context and a story, since it’s an essential part of the process, and we finally worked on it! Since this story might suffer a few changes along the next week, because there’s still some research that needs to be done, we decided that it would be better for us to share Fyna’s story, next week!

Art Updates

Our artist just started this week working on some concepts for our main character as well as for the background. For what we’ve been wanting to do for this project, we decided that our world would be a snowy and icy landscape, and for that, both concepts are being worked on with that thought in mind!

Programming Updates

Our programmer has been working on some experiments for the past few weeks so that we can start having a clearer idea of everything that will be possible to implement or not. Some experiments that are currently on the process are a sliding mechanic, some of the shield mechanics, our main characters weapon, and some falling spikes. Hopefully we will be able to show this progress, as soon as possible!

Devblog #3 Getting Stuck

Eenzdy_Studio Blog

Hello,

So… this week we actually kind of got the chance to present our current idea and progress before a jury, being able to get feedback on it, coming to the conclusion that there are a lot of stuff that still need a lot much more thinking, before getting into the real work.

Basically, we just got stuck with our own idea, we came to realize that we still don’t have everything properly thought and defined as we should by now, which ends up being a problem, preventing us from moving forward with the project. Besides all of this we also got to understand that we might’ve been a little bit ambitious with everything we were planning for a three-member team, having to rethink on our plan and make something more achievable as a team.

Hopefully we will be able to sort everything out the next week and move on a little bit more with this project.

Devlog #2 Pitch

Eenzdy_Studio Blog

Hello,

We are starting to develop our game “Fyna”, and for the past week we worked a bit more in depth on the Pitch.

"Fyna" is an action/adventure, 2D side-scroller and platformer, with a bit of puzzle, the gameplay is inspired by “Shovel Knight”, more precisely, the Shield Knight character and it’s skills, and “Tomb Raider”, with focus on an adventurous character hunting for lost treasures. It draws its inspiration from the game “Gris”, when it comes to its recognition for being artistically stunning.

Experience Fyna’s journey of exploration and survival along an impressive world, and memorable landscapes and Temples Lost in Time.

Travel by foot as you explore forgotten and mysterious lands, still to find, in search of relics and many other artifacts hidden in tricky and dangerous places.

Taking only your shield, learn how to use it properly through your adventure, defeat enemies and solve the Temples puzzles, take advantage of your unique skills to reach valuable treasures and open a way out to new and risky adventures, and don’t let anything or anyone get in your path.

Devlog #1 The Beginning

Eenzdy_Studio Blog

Hello,

We’re a small team that decided to create a studio, which we named Eenzdy Studio, to develop a 2D game project.

Our team:

  • Project Manager: Catarina Santos
  • Programmer: Diogo Salgueiro
  • Artist: Pedro Fernandes

The game is about Fyna, a girl looking for relics around the world, who, taking only her shield along with her, must face temples lost in time and many other perils.
