What does Serbia in the 14th century got to do with anything? Even back then they weren't that strong, and they were a weak nation in year 1200. In 1204 they got invaded and beaten by Bulgaria, and Vukan failed to bring his enemies in Bosnia down, so their enemies ended up being stronger than ever.
Hate to break your little dream, but Serbia back then was a weak nation that was invaded and defeated many times. Even at their height they weren't strong enough to hold back their enemies. Serbia was not a big power at all, their neighboor Hungary could easily have annexed them at will.
