I am an amateur texture artist working for mod projects in my spare time. Currently I am the lead developer of “The Great War 1918” team, a WW1 modification for Company of Heroes (as texture artist, historian, designer and code monkey). I also assist the Verdun Online project as historian, an indie FPS game project set in WW1. Amongst other projects I made textures for "His Righteous Mod" (under the nick Grenadier), a modification for Dawn of War.

The nations that are playable in custom battles have their own uniform models for soldiers. Other factions use generic models and have generic units, and as such it's pointless to have them playable in battle as the only thing that changes is the country flag.

That's because Sweden uses generic uniforms shared by all faction without custom uniforms. Only the colour is proper (as it's set separately to the models and textures).

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not worth the time and effort.
It would take hours that I'm not spending on doing other faction-specific crew models, or on the uniform models of the nations which don't have their own custom ones yet. All for something which would hardly ever get noticed.

Restart the game. That happens when you alt-tab out of NTW.

Yes, once they have their own custom uniforms. Right now there is no point to do that as they have generic uniforms and share the same unit roster as all minor factions.

Infantry and cavalry units at the campaign start represent an historical division-sized counterpart; they are placed in the armies and close to where they would have been deployed at the war's start historically. Thus they will not be changed.

Yes there is a way, but there was no time to make and implement them before the 6.0 release. I am working on it.

And no, we can't directly use the land battle marines models since they are a different format from the ones used for sailors and campaign models.

Go in the launcher's options and chose "Alternate Launch Method".

Set Authentic Names to off in the launcher's mod settings. That will fix the missing text and some other problems.

All minor nations share units in the unit database, which is also where equipment (weapon and backpacks) are set. Uniforms are set up in a separate database. That means we can give them different uniforms depending on nations, but all minor nations will use the same weapon and backpack for the same units.
We could give them other weapons, but it would change the weapons of all minor nations.

The Great War mod does not interfere with vanilla NTW since its files are stored separately and only activated when starting the launcher. We can't guarantee that it is the same for other mods though; they might prevent TGW from working correctly depending on how they are installed.

Set unit scale to normal in the launcher's mod settings.
Check that the campaign files have been properly installed. See here how: Moddb.com
Remove other mods you have installed as they will interfere.
If all else fails, check the integrity of your game files in steam, and then reinstall the mod.

Yes. But they should not be available ingame.

The file might have been corrupted by an incomplete download. Check that its size is the same as indicated above.

We tried to remove the sails, but currently that is not possible considering the way they are set up by the engine.

- Update your graphic card drivers;
- on your steam games page, right-lick on Total War Napoleon -> Properties -> Local files -> Verify Integrity of game files.

You shouldn't need to specify the game directory if the mod files were installed at the right place. In Napoleon Total War\data\The Great War\Files there's a settings text file you can edit to specify the directory.
Did you try to start the launcher as administrator?

Set Unit Scales to Normal in the launcher's Mod Settings. Classic is bugged.
And set Authentic naming to off while you're at it, or you will get missing or wrong text.

Set Unit Scale to normal in the launcher's mod settings.
Check that you installed the campaign files at the right place. Go to Napoleon Total War\data\campaigns; there should be a ww1_main folder in there. See the installation guide: Moddb.com

You need WinRAR, 7-zip, or another file archiver to extract the files.
Also make sure the download was not corrupted (the downloaded file needs to be the same as written above).

Don't use classic size. Set your unit scales to normal size for now; it will get patched at a later date.
