Congratulations on crossing 10,000 downloads. This mod has certainly come a long way, and I hope there's more success for it in store in the future.

I don't think it does. While in principle the high number of enemies dropping 1-4 bullets for the assault rifle should balance it out, in practice the assault rifle only gets 5 bursts of 6 bullets from a normal clip, and given its incredibly low damage most players will run out of ammo for it fast if they try to use it as their main weapon.

Now of course you could argue that the assault rifle is only meant to be a "trash killer" and be pulled out only for killing loads of normal enemies, in practice it doesn't work simply because you burn through its ammunition rather fast and you need several bullets to kill enemies, even at Master level with damage mods installed. One user had complained about this before, and he pointed out that ironically he could save up more ammo for the sniper rifle than he could for the assault rifle though he used both frequently.

The AI in the Ton hotel on the second visit seems to be pretty bugged, as can be seen from all the complaints about JoJo Fine not pathfinding correctly or UNATCO troops sometimes failing to charge into the room. I didn't face these problems thankfully, but they do require investigation.

He's supposed to be immortal, he appears in later missions. In one he's a source of information if you pay him money, in the other meeting him is an objective.

I can re enable quicksaving on Hardcore mode. I won't be making it an addon, but if I ever do it I'll message the files to you.

I would like to investigate disabling camera effects, as I understand that it makes some players uneasy, it took some time for me to get adjusted to it.

As for your maps question, GMDX naturally uses GMDX maps, not New Vision's. Both New Vision and HDTP are automatically installed with the full version. The game should be run through GMDX.exe. Currently there aren't any mission or campaign mods planned, though I do have a tentative campaign using GMDX as base in mind.

Yeah I'm sorry for that. I'll be trying to fix it soon now that I've got the proper Stealth skill code file.

After finishing GMDX once, you can unlock two weapons from a menu, a USP.10 and a laser rifle. I make them both unlocked from the start and put them near your starting position on Liberty Island.

That's not the reason at all. HDTP models worked in GMDX v7 and such. The mod creator doesn't want the HDTP human models because they cause technical issues with features such as shooting off helmets and he doesn't like them.

If there are enough requests for HDTP models I could make an addon which allows them to be enabled in v8 but it's not a big priority.

1. That's a bug in the original game that somehow triggers with GMDX sometimes. Totalitarian is trying to fix it.

2. Sounds like a bug. If you really want to use up consumables without any limits though, get Athletics to Advanced and get the perk for it.

3. Throwing knifes have been made very powerful and more common, allowing people to retrieve them after kills would cause problems. Though you could try convincing Totalitarian to change how throwing knifes behave.

4. It stops the countdown bar from going down after having hacked something.

All those interaction problems sound like bugs, they were definitely not intended.

I didn't notice any blast door in the middle of the room, and I think having a security laser in between the "public areas" and the "laboratory" makes sense since it can be used to automatically detect people who aren't supposed to enter the laboratory and allow the security to stop them faster.

As for the Dragon's Tooth, I really don't think it has been made as weak as you claim. Even at Untrained in Low Tech I could use it to kill ordinary soldiers and even MJ12 commandos, I only had to aim at their head, which makes sense. I think nerfing it a bit was necessary as otherwise it was too powerful and encouraged players to just rush in close even if they hadn't invested any points in the Low Tech weapon class.

Yes, the non lethal PS20 mode and the gamma ionized ammo of the Plasma Rifle were scrapped. A shame, I liked them a lot.

It's a glitch, I could give guns normally to him.

The stamina system was just to avoid the player from running around with no consequence since it made the game a bit too easy, and it can be countered by putting points in Athletics, which shouldn't take much.

I don't think the Dragon's Tooth Sword has been downgraded much, it can still break a lot of doors, kill many enemies effectively and on difficulties lower than Hardcore it can break the electric junction boxes that control security or electrical hazards.

What parts of the altered levels you didn't like?

Are you using Kentie's launcher? In that case you need to copy the DeusEx.int file from the GMDX folder to the Deus Ex folder. Remember to back the original DeusEx.int file up.

Also HDTP models were disabled because they caused problems with several features, like the helmets being shot off or the distinct facial features for some guards.

HDTP's human models were intentionally disabled because they caused problems with features, like the helmets being shot off or facial differences between guards and such.

Go with this. I've played a bit of it, it's actually refreshing with all the new mechanics and subtle yet effective world building details.

Which is more than I could ever say for Revision. I won't go into detail about it here though.

Message from Jonas:

"I'm not planning to play the mod.

If I ever do get around to sorting out the tangled mess that is my Deus Ex folder, I think I'll give Nihilum a shot.

I know Deus Ex's content quite well, and messing with the levels or the gameplay isn't going to make it worth my time to replay for the 4th time. I value new content much more highly than graphics or gameplay tweaks, which is why I mean to eventually play Nihilum, if this relentless torrent of cool new games I have to play will just let up for a moment :)"

How many times does this question need to be answered? No, GMDX will not be made compatible with Revision because it's a lot of work for little benefit. The reason making it compatible with Revision will take a lot of time is precisely because it changes pathfinding, ammo placement, locks etc for its own maps. Also don't worry, GMDX has map changes of its own to accommodate the changes to the gameplay, although they are very different from the changes Revision makes.

Revision does not "improve" the maps as there are lots of liberties taken with some maps and the aesthetics of some maps are vastly changed. So merely having GMDX combined with it won't necessarily make for the best Deus Ex experience.

I just downloaded and tried out the installer, it worked with my GOG install just fine. Oh, and my laptop has Windows 8.1, so I don't think it's really an issue with software incompatibility as much as it might be with file paths. I guess if you're using Steam or some such the file path for the mod becomes too long and so the installer can't detect a Deus Ex install. My file path is F:/GOG Games/Deus Ex GOTY. Also remember that the later versions of Windows have protections for anything put in the C:/Program Files or Program Files(x86) and so that could be blocking the installer too.

Whether or not Revision's maps are good is subjective, but what is clear is that CyberP's design is completely different from the design of the Revision team, which is why CyberP tries to stay faithful to the artstyle and focus more on rebalancing ammunition, enemy placement, hiding spots etc. Revision seems to focus more on reimagining aesthetics and adding areas rather than reworking elements to fit the new gameplay mechanics, because they don't really have any. Also CyberP did work a bit with them a while ago but it didn't pan out.

I think Skyward should be archived. 4 years without a release or demo and some screenshots qualifies as archive worthy I think.

Oh, and so does RolePlay Coop and Twisted Loyalties. The Raven Project and UNATCO Rescue Missions could fit the criteria too.

Ok, since none has bothered to explain how to correct this, I will. You have to make the installer extract files to "C:\DeusEx", not "C:\DeusEx\". That's right, you need to remove the one slash that the installer puts by default. Most of these old total conversions have that problem with their installers, so keep it in mind.

Found the problem. The splash screen that shows up while opening the mod got corrupted somehow. Just move the file called dxnae.bmp outside the DeusEx/Help folder and restart. You will get the original splash screen, but the maps will load fine.

Yeah you're right about both versions. I figured since this ModDB page was still there, and there was no download link at all, people deserved to atleast have access to the old versions. Especially since it looked like you weren't going to come back.

Hey I hope this isn't a five minute mod! I thought you were remaking the Hong Kong section, not turning them into a summary.
