The main character appears! Also an update on the game mechanics and a draft of the gameplay !

DeltaBotGames Blog

Hello everyone! I would like you all to meet Melanie, Melanie the spider.

Spider hello

Melanie is a simple spider who was enjoying her spidey life when suddenly, a huge strange object appeared in front of her! What she didn't know, is that the mysterious object is called a rocket, a toy rocket who belongs to a kid who is about to launch it!

That's what happens before the game starts by the way.

Besides that, here's a draft of the gameplay that the artist made, the artstyle won't be like this, however, with this we have a better idea on what to focus and how we want the game to be.

The player will be tapping certain zones of the rocket and Melanie will shoot her web in order to go to those zones.

I think that if you watch this video of the game mechanics that our programmer is focusing on, it will give you a better grasp of what we mean.

Game Prototype

prototype prototype 2

Hello everyone! Here's a peak of our game prototype that our programmer has been working so hard on, pretty cool right?
Now, it doesn't have a spider on it yet, but at least the main mechanic for our videogame is going along nicely. And according to our artist: "In order to draw a spider, I need to become a spider..."

That might explain why he's trying to climb walls and shooting webs like a certain friendly neighbourhood.

Guess that means we'll have awesome new content for the next update!

Game concept is set, let the development begin!

DeltaBotGames Blog

Hello everyone,

first of all, our utmost apologies regarding the delay of the weekly updates, there has been some issues that needed to be clarified about the Game Concept and we were unable to post.

However! It's with great pleasure to announce that our Game Concept has been accepted and the project will continue!

So, you may be asking yourself: "What's the game about?"

Well dear reader, let me tell you.

"Spider Rush!" (name may change in the future) is a 2D arcade game in which you play as a spider who uses its web to climb and reach the infinity and beyond!

... But is that it? That's all the spider does? Well, yeah.

Having said that, the spider will need your help to keep itself steady on the web, during the climbing there will appear obstacles with the intent of preventing it to reach higher heights.

You will need to tap on your left and right side of the screen in order to swing the spider through the web and help it avoid the obstacles!

Do be careful though, if you swing too much from one side to another, the spider will get separated from the web and Game Over... The same can be applied if the spider collides against an obstacle.

While climbing, the spider will catch flies (gross, I know), they can be used in order to unlock diferent skins for our little six-leg friend!

That is all for now folks, see you at the next update!

What is DeltaBot games?

DeltaBotGames Blog

Hello everyone, and welcome to our development blog of DeltaBot Games!

We're a Portuguese team made of game development students, united to create a videogame for a school project.

At the moment, we're still brainstorming and defining conclusive ideas for our videogame project. But as soon as we have everything planned, we will update weekly about the game development.

Our team is made by three people, each of us with a specific role to make sure the project evolves smoothly:

  • Ivan Areia, the project manager and game designer;
  • Bruno Abano, the programmer;
  • Daniel Reis, the artist;

Will these three mysterious (and handsome) gentlemen be able to do this videogame project?

What will be the main idea and concept for the game?

Should someone stop whoever keeps writting this?

Find out next time on our weekly update!

And a huge thanks to all of you who will be with us on this journey.
