For our final sprint of working on Drawn Together, we wanted to clean things up and have a higher general level of polish, along with strengthening our narrative throughout the game. To accomplish this we started by creating cutscenes for our game. We now have an intro and conclusion cutscene, used to try and help build the story. We also updated the background of our jar level in order to show the level that the players just exited. After player feedback, people felt confused about the narrative of the game, so we wanted to be able to strengthen it in our final days working on this project.

As for polish, there were many small things we completed. We moved around buttons and jump-mushrooms to try and feel better to use, updated some of our guidance to better help the players learn how to play, and improved our scene transitions to be less jarring. This again came from player feedback, along with our own frustrations with these items. We were also able to implement further sprites for our characters and give them animations. This is something we’ve been wanting to implement for a while, and we think they really help the game feel more dynamic. It also helps address some player feedback where sometimes players couldn’t tell exactly where they were facing or that they were moving. We are unfortunately out of time to continue working on this project, but going forward if we had more time or decide to come back to it, our next priority would be adding further content to try and further expand the world that we can build.
