Pitiful armor is the only weakness of Griffon.....they have everything else better than pendor knight, which leads them still the strongest “pendor” knight.
Perhaps we will see more heavy armored griffon knights in PoP4, according to lore current griffon is newly refounded, atm they are not recovered to their best yet, both equipments and skills.
And for most stories it is common for weaker protagonist defeat stronger enemies. It is what excites people.

1.Legionnaire is good, but only good, Ravenstern kierguard, Fierdsvain armored axeman(yes I mean FAA not huscarl) can easily crash legionnaire, no need to say Dshar Ghazi Dervish, pendor bladesman and Huscarl, Huscarl is on per with bladesman, Ghazi dervish for melee, but better for tank. To be some funny stuff, legionnaires is on per with fierdsvain heavy archer for melee, maybe a bit better, only a bit believe me, that's legionnaire's best, they looks decent, but in fact they are not that good, their only advantage is they are easy to train.
2.Dshar Ghazi marksman is far better than Ravenstern ranger, so does their horse archer, mtd ranger uses toy comparing with Ghazi raider, their armor, skill ,weapon and horse are also worse than ghazi raider, the only weakness of Dshar is their top tier troops are hard to train, the advantage of Ravenstern is not ranger, is their troops are easy to train to be decent troops, their Knight, infantry share the same name with their ranger, the balance in pendor is not "Ravenstern is good at bow, sarleon is good at cavalry, fierdsvain is good at infantry(let me explain that, fierdsvain is good at body, their people are strong so they are good at melee, and their infantry can be decent warriers at very low tier, however for high tier, elite troops from other countries began to match them or even beat them)" that simple, there is a culture in each country, and the world of pendor is never fair, check the troop tree well once again, you will love this interesting design.

They have been already buffed in 3.8, I don't think they need more now, only dragon requires a decent buff now.
