Well, as one of the funders, I gave them money on the premise that I wanted to see more things like this, and this sort of game isn't made by any major company. That, in my opinion, is the essence of crowdfunding. Sure, I could have waited and gotten it for cheaper (or half the game for free), but I wanted to make sure this sort of project got funded (and ideally more in the future would get made by seeing the success of this IGG project).
And while I would rant about how I don't like where ME3 has gone as compared to the first ME, that's a discussion for another time. I'm glad that I threw money at this project instead of that game. And I can't wait to see more of the game (and I imagine that the situation isn't unique to just me), so the game is successful IMO. (Profitable? Probably not given the load of time they're putting into this, but I see this as more a project of love rather than a project of profit.)
