A lot of decompilers result in strange inaccuracies and will be missing some information.

STILL need to sit down and make actually recolored floor and ceiling metal textures.
HOW in the WORLD did I miss this????
I would actually love to have another puzzle designer aside from myself on the team if you're still up for it!
I do want to say that the mod is based on portal 2 now so the puzzles would use portal 2 mechanics.
Currently working on some new concept art that I can't wait to share

follow up to this. This image has massive differences from Project Aperture.
- Number on the observation room signage
- door handle facing outwards
- ledge over by the glass and door where in PA there is only a catwalk that's broken
- Lighting is significantly different
- different positioning of various objects
- room size is off
- office room is lit where PA's is not.
- Texturing isn't even the same for the concrete
not to mention how would I even get ahold of a less detailed version of the map you are referring to?
Nope. I just referenced a portal 1 bts area so that I have a vague idea as to what I should be making in portal 2 style.
That is exactly what I've been working on!
No? This is my image. It's just very similar. I can even provide the bsp and vmf files to prove it
oh yeah also I'm using the portal 1 portal gun for this mod. I much prefer it's cleaner design. I think it fits pretty well.
This specific screenshot of this chamber is very outdated. The current version of this map actually is more put together but was abandoned when I scrapped the art therapy theme.
late reply but no linking required! this page has been properly updated to reflect the current state of the mod! it should be properly marked as being a portal 2 mod
VTF Files do not have transparent backgrounds if I recall correctly. All of the textures that normally have blank parts have entirely black backgrounds last time I checked.
I may be wrong because it's been a while since I've made source mods but this is how I remember it being.
If you just want to add new things to the game or change some textures:
- Find the locations of the files you want to change in pak01_dir.vpk from the base game
- Extract those files and retain the directory structure
- replace them
- Pack the file back up
- Inside Portal 2 (the folder) make a new portal2_dlc folder with a higher number than the previous one.
- Copy the pak01_dir.vpk you created to that folder
- Build the cache the same way you do with a mod (I recommend copying the cache from the last non user created dlc folder to save time)
and you should be done! You will have your custom elements in the base game! I use this method to skin my portal gun in the base game.
Hope this helps! :D
Despite not having the entries inside the file. The regular singleplayer campaign and coop buttons are still on the menu.
Seeing how this mod doesn't seem like it's going to be updated. Do you mind if I try to fix the issues I see with it? There are many things I'd love to do.
I'm a bit upset with how this reboot was handled. My review gives my thoughts. I don't mean to bash it so please don't take it like that.
Just want to mention that I've softlocked multiple times and I'm upset with what was removed and left out.
Was very disappointed with that "escape" sequence.
It actually was for a while. Recently I got a sudden spark of inspiration though. I am working on it again. In the form of a portal 2 mod as it will give me much more to work with.
I would love to play this.
I hate to say this, But I no longer have a working windows computer. I will work very hard on getting hammer working on a linux machine. I am as much upset as you may be. WHY MUST I HAVE SUCH HORRIBLE LUCK.
well maybe you aren't supposed to be there then
I left my windows laptop at my dads. all I have is my chromebook. *facepalm*
I am so sorry! Trailer is taking longer than I originally thought
I have really gotten better at mapping.
