If you don't like vanilla ground battles there's always the option to auto-resolve. I don't think they're so bad that they should be completely gutted out of the game until they've been reworked.

Great work with the space battles, it really is like playing a whole new game, but I have to ask; why on earth would you outright disable the land battles in campaign? I mean I understand that your rework of land battles might not be finished, but leaving them as vanilla is better than having none at all.

Having space and land battles in one RTS game is one of if not the main reason I love this game, and you've disabled one half of the entire game because you haven't got around to finish reworking it yet. That's pretty dumb. Just enable it and leave it as vanilla until you're finished.

The dedication from this mod team is amazing. Loved this game years ago on xbox, fell in love with it again a couple of years ago due to this mod, and now I find it's still being updated with great improvements being made. Excellent work, I wish you all the best on Hearts of Oak.

Ah, no I did not. Thank you for the swift reply, I'll keep this information in mind.

Is there any documentation of sort that I can refer to if I'm in need of information like this?

Whoops, guess I forgot about that intel patch! Applying it now :)

As for the colony capture I'll keep playing and I'll give the manual another read to see if I missed anything covering this.

Need a tiny bit of troubleshooting, nothing gamebreaking or anything, I just noticed that in your trailer the water shaders are very sexy, there's reflections and everything! I don't seem to get that in my installation.

Also another general question, how is a colony capture triggered? Do you need to take ALL the towns on an island? I captured a town a while back and I was prompted by dialogue options to take loot and put in place a governor from the faction of my choosing. I didn't have the lovely interface screen where you may appoint one of your own officers as fort commandant and the governors house certainly did not become my own.

I'm glad my feedback is fueling your effort, even if it's only a little bit. Also I've checked out Hearts of Oak, an ambitious project indeed! Good choice for the engine I must add, sailing the seas is going to look more beautiful than ever I'm sure of it.

Gave this mod my vote this year, after ACIV: Black Flag I looked to this game for a more definitive 18th century piracy RPG/Sim and I got exactly what I wanted and more from this mod. The dedication and sheer enthusiasm for you work shines through lads, you've done a lot to make an old game feel fresh.

Was going to point out that he was talking about the planet behind the UI, then I realized it was actually a part of the UI lol.

Maybe if developers stood by the standards of the ESF team as strictly as they do there would be no need for patches at all, instead we could play fully working and well balanced products at release. We should be thankful that they aren't sacrificing quality for a quick release date.

It's been said a thousand times before but seriously people just be patient, it's not hard to recognize that with this mod, our patience will most certainly pay off.

It's all very understandable man, I wouldn't suggest taking the video down as much as I would suggest offering some kind of disclaimer or maybe add the issue to the "latest news" section that explains that it's a 'work in progress' video with old models that aren't used anymore. I think that would help you and everybody else out a lot.

I'm sorry to hear about your personal struggles, but from what I have seen today you can be quite a mature young man as it takes A LOT for someone your age to come to the conclusion that we have come to. I'm sure you'll pull through whatever happens, you're quite a determined individual, you fought tooth and nail to defend this mod, quite rightly so.

I accept your apology, as I hope you can accept mine.
So lets sit back, relax, and enjoy the observable progress that is being made in this mod, and in us as individuals.
Have a great day.

Surprisingly not actually, I go by a different name on the BIS forums and I just reported the content and kept quiet about it. I never discussed it on the Bis forums or in any forums here, I simply kept my suspicion between me and Dwarden when it was all going down.

I was quite unaware of how it could affect the community, I was just hoping to see the stolen content removed, I even warned them numerous times before reporting them to BIS.

So now I realize there's been a lot of commotion about it, and it seems people are cursing my name so I might as well try and defend myself.

No, I'm serious, that blog post was posted right after I told him about it, I could fetch up all the e-mails sent between me and the moderators on Bohemia interactive and the one between me and Dwarden. I was advised to take the issue to Dwarden, that blog post was actually a comment made made by him in the comment section of the mod in question at first, but then he posted it on his blog soon after.

I provided Dwarden with all the images I deemed suspicious and it was eventually found that it was indeed copyright infringement.

I'm not just taking credit for this to get some kind of name for myself, I honestly believe I was the first to report this to bohemia interactive seeing as the moderator I contacted (named W0lle) first guess for the game being used was to support stolen content was "GTA4".

As I said, e-mails/proof can be provided in any form. Dwarden actually ended up sending me a friend invitation here at Moddb, haha!

Yes, I'm the guy who sent the message out to the Bohemia interactive devs about stolen Arma 2 models in a men of war mod by Vora_Bat.

Gathered a bit of attention I suppose, to be honest I'm quite happy seeing the moddb staff putting notices up in the latest news about it.

Haha, I didn't know my reporting of that Modern pack to Dwarden would have caused such a stir! It's like I'm the plagiarist's boogieman now. I can live with that rep!

Is this, dare a say it, a control manual?!

Oh my, assuming these controls are finalized, that must mean you've got most of the combat down.

Which is probably the biggest chunk of development out of the way.

Can't be long now :D

I understand that but doesn't a mod of this nature require some kind of permission from Universal or THQ, seeing as Blue Tongue was acquired by THQ and Blue Tongue were the original creators of the models.

I'm just giving you a heads up just in case any trouble with THQ pops up in the future, because I think it could be possible for them to pursue some kind of legal action if they REALLY wanted to.

Did you rip all the dinosaur texture files straight from Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, because every single one in the video looks EXACTLY like the ones from that game, you even have all the same dinosaurs.
