Could you please provide a little bit more detail about the issue, like console output, what sound system do you use, glx or sdl binary etc.

First of all, I truly suggest you to use the nvidia binary drivers. Also, a console output of the freeze would be a lot apreciated. Please use a pastebin for that, and report the bug on the develoer tracker, or on the forum of the game:

For those waiting for 0.6 on desura:
We have already uploaded the new release days ago, but it needs approval from desura's side. We're all only waiting on desura.

Sorry for the delay, we had some real life problems for several dev members (don't want to go into details), hence they coulnd't finish features and fix bugs in time, but now everything seems to be somewhat settled down, so expect 0.6 to be released VERY SOON.
Please, be patient, because very nice features, new maps and important bugfixes are to be shipped with 0.6!

Hello bbqdude!

Sound stutter might come from a bug in sound handling, that'll be fixed in the next official release (soon to be out).
On the low player count: according to our download and server statistics, tons of people dowload Xonotic, though for some reason, they don't spend much time online - they join an empty server, move around 1-2 minutes, and leave. You have to be very lucky to catch them online, because they're only there for a blink. :(
Though my experiences show that if you spend at least 10 minutes on a server in the late afternoon-evening times, you can get some really good games, you just have to be a bit more patient.
Also, we suspect playerbase to grow from 1.0, because people doesn't like to play with non finished "beta" products.

That lagging issue might have something to do with a too late discovered bug with "decals on players" for 0.5 - it's already fixed and the fix will be there in 0.6.
Also, it'd be nice to provide some more information about your audio issues. Please visit Forums.xonotic.org and post your problem there!

Thank you for your kind words and support Rauschebart! We're in the middle of putting together the release announcement, and trust me, Xonotic 0.6 ships with so much awesome new content and bugfixes, I keep forgetting half of the stuff, and I have to constantly look at my cheat-sheet "Oh, I stil have to mention this and also that too!" :D

There are no system requirements specified right now, because we still didn't reach 1.0 . However, the closest I can tell you is that my rig can run the game without major problems on high graphical settings most of the time:

CPU: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz
RAM: GEIL Ultra 2048Mb DDR2 800Mhz
VGA: GALAXY 9800GT 512MB Xtreme Tuner PCIE

This is a non official video, showing some very early WIP parts of multiple maps. It's a community, fan made video/trailer. It is now very old too. The "floaty" feeling comes from the slowmo effect, the game is a lot faster.
