I don't get it! :)
Rate it then ;)
Motion blur seems to be already there. Try to tweak it.
V03 released!
Download: Sdrv.ms
The default version is: 96nohalo_hand_lantern.ent
Full change log will be posted soon in the news section.
In such a case you don't really need the lantern to be turned on, do you? ;)
I don't think you got it working then. In 12 hours I'll release new version in several variants with varying spotlight FOV, so you could give it another go.
I've got some bad news. It appears it all comes down to the spotlight FOV and basically we either get a lantern that lights like a flashlight or we get flickering, jagged shadows.
I set the spotlight FOV to some small value like 30 degrees the shadows became perfect! From my test it all gets messy after 90 degrees and gets worse above this value, at least proportionally. Not only the shadows get worse. Additional graphical artifacts involving shadows appear.
Additional notes:
The further the lightened object from the lantern, the worse the shadow looks like. Opposite to what I was thinking before ('the further the wall the shadow is casted on, the more jagged the shadow').
This is why I'm going to prepare few versions of the mod so even those without the ModelEditor may test various variants and choose the balance between lantern light FOV and shadow quality that suits them.
Bonus:
The light flickering has been added. Again I've hit technical limitations. The flickering should occur at least 3 times faster than what I've set. Unfortunatelly faster flickering produces unpleasant effects when playing without Vertical Synchronization (Vsync) and at only medium-low FPS (~25 FPS).
Bonus 2:
The light color has been tweaked (lightened) to give less greenish tint.
I'll prepare the packages tomorrow.
BTW, if you haven't tried playing a game at 60+ FPS, do it the first chance you get!
A plea to everyone who plan to use the mod.
Please put the font author in the forefront. I did very little compared to him, and you have to admit - the font is awesome!
Second, please share your custom config modifications (e.g. font sizes) with some descriptions. I did the mod strictly to my own taste and for my display resolution of 1680x1050.
Some progress report:
Performance:
Huge performance increase achieved by disabling SSAO.
Quality:
Massive improvement in shadows quality! No flickering, no jagged edges.
What I did?
Spotlight angle: 90 ***
Clipping distance: 0.2
Light source position: pretty far in front of the lantern model
Disabled: Parallax, SSAO
Now, everything above sucks, but it gave, literally, massive improvement and I'm investigating how far back can I go with these settings before the shadows get screwed again. Stay tuned for some media.

I think the spotlight angle I used was 155. Some sshots may present one of the early WIP versions at much lower angle. Higher angle gave worse shadows, altough exact relation between the two is not clear to me.
Please mind that this is an early version, done by a guy who knows squat about 3D modeling etc.
I have little time to even play the game so I haven't combined all the info on the mod in one place. Please take a few minutes to go through >every< forum topic that I link in descriptions of my mods. I'll update the description in few minutes.
