Hi Borg,
because of corona friends and I try to play ra2 via vpn. We are using your tcp/ip fix but cannot find a game or a player in the lobby.

Is there a way to fix this problem? How does it work, a layer 2 broadcast?
Looking forward to play that game via vpn.

Best regards from Germany
Martin

Network play over VPN can be a little tricky, though with the LAN patch it is possible (BTW it's not a TCP/IP fix :) ).

BTW, Borg didn't actually make the patch. It was created by Underst0rm many many years ago. But basically all it does is switches RA2 and TS's default LAN protocol from IPX to UDP.

How well that works will depend entirely on your setup. Some software is better than others at achieving this. What VPN solution are you using?

My first recommendation if you're on Windows would be to increase the interface metric of your VPN adapter. On Win 10, go to Settings -> Network and Internet -> Change Adapter Options. Right click your virtual VPN adapter, hit Properties. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and hit Properties. From there click Advanced and uncheck "Automatic Metric" at the bottom. Enter a low value such as 1, and click OK through all the windows and close everything. This will tell Windows to listen/check for connections through that interface first and should give you the best chance at getting a successful VPN connection.

Hope that helps!

It was actually made by Scorpio9a (Kevin van Gool). "Understorm" was the name of his website.

you can update the mods 64-bit operating systems since it can only be played in low resolution and for a short time before the game crashes

Crashes have been eliminated in version 5. As for the resolution, you can get Github.com and play RA2YR on any resolution you want.

Hi Borg, I know you're not up to modding too much these days, but I wanted to bring something to your attention. A mod has cropped up over the last year or so called Red Alert 2: New Horizons, and upon close inspection it is absolutely clear that it is a direct rip of your Red Alert 2: Apocalypse mod, specifically appearing to be v3.3.000

Moddb.com

Its creator, Lee3y, claims to have a direct, personal relation to you, and that he is using your mod with your express permission. Can you verify his claim?

The Apocalypse mod is great and the new 4.0 version is a welcome addition. Though i played through the Yuris revenge campaigns again and noticed no difference. The last mission was the same. What was the surprise supposed to be?
