Put hw mod folder in your FS2 folder

in the launcher go to the mod tab and select it, then apply and run

I just updated to current (3.7.2 RC4, from 1) and played with no issue

and I dunno how mediavp 2014 could be any different between me and anyone else, and that is the only thing the mod uses of course so...yeah

and I dunno how beams could not show cause they use the same effects as AAAf and shivan beams. Maybe when I change that for next release this won't be an issue.

well I still need a lot of things from Cataclysm but besides that any HW1 or HW2 ships you don't see in the 1.1 download I don't have in FS2 yet. So I'd say if you want to port things go for that. I'll deal with Cataclysm. Then if there's anything else I'll mention it.

If that's the case, don't worry about the dialogue stuff, just me remaking all 3 campaigns is a pretty big maybe. So forget I mentioned that for now :P

Yeah, it would be quite a lot for just me to do. I also have real life to deal with and well that has slowed me down on this mod. My current plan is to at least get all the ships in FS2, I believe that is enough.

Progenitor "mothership" or whatever it is (or was) may as well be canon as it's in the cutscenes...and in-game too, even if only in pieces.

If you can port stuff from HW1 HWC or HW2 to FS2 then go ahead. That's pretty much it cause once that's done the mod is technically done. I say that cause you know missions and all that but you can't have the missions without the ships, derelicts, etc

I suppose the other thing that would be needed (for a campaign recreation) would be the dialogue.

Only thing the mod uses is 2014 MediaVPs so...yeah, perhaps something about those is missing

There's basically almost nothing when it comes to single player missions for HW2. Pretty much because there's no way to efficiently make them.

Anything that was in HW1, HWC, or HW2 will be in.

As for getting this stuff from HW to FS well it pretty much involves knowing to how set up a model for use in FS by importing it into 3dsmax and then combining all the textures into 1 texture and if the ship has turrets setting those up correctly as well (other 3d model programs would probably work too). After that it is PCS2 work to set up the .pof file. There are tutorials on hard light productions for this.

Nope that's pretty much what they did for the Beast, besides the command ship and cruise missile the rest are texture edits.

So you're saying you want to make Beast versions of things? If anything how I don't have this stuff in a VP should make it easier.

yeah so just changing username here to what I am elsewhere like xfire, youtube, xbox...

anyway, question about debris implementation. There are 2 ways I could do it, first is the way HW2 has salvageable debris, second is how I did it in my Freespace mod. If you have not played that basically the debris were effects that would fly away and disappear after a while (as effects they have no collision and big pieces of larger ships can sometimes be easily noticed flying through other ships)

First way is kinda better in a way but it can be the cause of serious lag later in the game with tons and tons of debris all over the map. Second way removes that problem but then of course the debris won't stay on the map and are not salvageable.

so I'm asking now which would be the most preferable for people when they play this.

well everything is scaled up/down by the same value (50%, up for HW2 models down for HW1 and HWC)

broken? actually no, what do you mean by that? They aren't orientated right and I didn't reduce brightness which for some backgrounds I have to because they are too bright for FS gameplay

I brought this back as my own thing, which I kinda wanted to do in the first place anyway seeing as I was doing this before I even knew of MER, but as you may know by now MER is back.

Why some of those guys then would claim credit like that I have no idea lol
