1. I'm not sure, but hopefully soon. Version 0.10 was the last one I could put some work in, but due to life circumstances I couldn't focus on it any more.

I recently got some free time in my hands, and I'm hoping to put a few updates in the coming month or so.

2. Yes, the economy is still very much a work in process, and several resources are still very constrained. It's one of the things I want to ameliorate by the next version.

Economy is still *very* wonky, especially with supply and demand of many goods. As it's still in alpha, do feel free to give yourself resources if needed!

Thanks for the heads-up! I joined awhile ago, but I wasn't very active there.

Now that I have a bit more time, I'll revisit it.

Hi!

I don't know what could be causing the crashes, I've tested it on a few different systems and installs and it works fine.

The text on the loading screen is not a real file path, just a fanciful recreation of the actual loading stages (e.g. "C:\games\victopia\history.txt" is actually "Executing history".)

What version of Victoria are you using? What checksum do you have?

Is it the scan line effect?

That's just a layer of black pixel lines at 25% transparency over the original pictures. I use paint.net for most of the graphics.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the .dll that I used for it:
Sites.google.com

I'm still alive! Just got caught with lots of stuff in my life, and wanted to make the next update a bit more ambitious.

I'm hoping to post an update before the end of the week.

I think it's a great song, but I don't think it fits the overall theme of the mod (synthwave cyberpunk-ish), and it presents some troublesome issues with its copyright.

However, the songs from the mod are by no means mandatory or exhaustive, and if there are songs that you like and that enhance your gameplay, by all means feel free to enjoy them while you play!

You can find it at the top of the page, on the "Files" section.

There's also a link to the latest version at the bottom of every dev diary. Right now the latest is 0.09:

Germany (and Europe) are still a few months away, but I'm looking forward to make them fun!

There's a lot of new tracks for the mod, that change depending on circumstances (e.g. war, peace, high militancy or consciousness, great power status, etc.) :)

I'm going top-south right now, so northern countries (Alaska, Canada) have a bit more stuff than those in the south.

I'd recommend Alaska and Quebec, but also New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Cali/Texas.

In what way?

The economy is not fully implemented, but right now the game suffers from late-game Victoria liquidity crashes. That is, there's not enough money going to the pops simply because there's not enough money being generated in general.

I'm thinking of social programs + extra government money to solve the issue, but it's hard to strike a balance between what's supposed to be an unstable economy early game, and an actual way to stabilize the economy in the midgame.

It's something that I really want to focus on after putting the basics of the economy in place, though!

I want it to be more dynamic than plot-driven, although there are certain national goals that countries would gravitate to e.g. reforming countries or securing strategic resources.

Supranational organizations aren't in the game yet, but these will be a bit more plot-driven (or rather, event-driven) than most countries.

Right now only Alaska and Canada have rocket launch sites. The next version will include them for the rest of the US and a bit more! :)

Edit: Rocket sites only for the western U.S. for update 0.09. Will add the rest of the country by next version!

Population growth tweaks are something that's on the plans to implement, although it's a bit further down the road. I will be reducing the pop growth rate for the coming version tho!

Si, es algo que ya está arreglado para la versión 0.08.

I'm happy to inform that it has been fixed, and version 0.08 will include the fix. :)

It's a quirk of the engine where it specifically spawns "infantry" when mobilized, and if there's no "infantry" unit, it'll crash.

And thank you!

Thank you!

Most of the war declarations are disabled due to some weird crashes during wars, but I expect to have them resolved by the next version (0.08) or, at the latest, by version 0.10.

For some reason the game doesn't quite like wars right now so I have manually disabled most. I am working on it, and will get it resolved by next update (0.08), definitely by update 0.10.

He had less to work with, and was in a more challenging environment. The US didn't start to crack until the 60s, and the dissolution of the Union was in the late 70s, but the more aggressive and unstable early Cold War did get the ball rolling.

I'm hoping to sort out the war crash by 0.07 or 0.08.

At the very latest, 0.10, which is when pre-Alpha is over and it's a proper alpha (i.e. no major crashes).

I think I've sorted out the crashes, at least temporarily, by restricting wars. I'm still trying to figure out what's the cause of them.

Basically, I want the economy to be intuitive and not overtly complex; I have a sketch of resources and production chains present in the mod that's just a bit bigger than the one present in the base game.

Regarding techs, I envision tech themselves to be more of a "focused effort in this area" and the inventions as the actual results of research. For example, you can focus on small arms and infantry weapons, which will immediately raise the cost of fielding infantry, but over time will unlock the techs that actually improve your units.

By locking most benefits behind inventions, you can also regulate how soon a country will get them depending on other factors, such as better industry or materials, and not just weapons research. I feel that's closer to modern science than granting bonuses directly with research.

I will go in-depth about these topics on a future diary :)

Thus far, the main source of crashes I've noticed is war declarations. I have no idea yet why's that happening, but I'm working on it.
