It just loads the mod, executes the config and turns off punkbuster. You can do all this without the .bat. Open it with a text editor to check the command line.
You seem to have misunderstood. Just follow these three simple steps:
1. Download the mod and place it in your modfolder
2. Exec startmod.bat
3. Open console type map mp_surv_... (make sure you have the map)
And you're done, LAN/SP version will be different in a way that there wil be an installer and a create server menu.
I agree with you on this one. It's either going to change or I'll add alternatives.

When you are ingame use the \changemap command not the map command.
Remember to change the dvar zom_count. It's default is 2.

You can just play the MOD on your own cod4. Next version will have an easy start server menu but for now you gotta use the console. You have to execute these few commands in console:
- execute rotu.cfg
- map mp_surv_bridge (if it is not loading check if you extracted the maps right)
If the bots are not connecting:
turn punkbuster off in create server menu
If the bots are not spawning:
in console:
set g_gametype surv
-- go back to menu
in console:
map mp_surv_bridge
You don't need any program to execute RotU.cfg. Just launch call of duty 4, open up console (tilde key, enable it in options) and type execute rotu.cfg.
You probably forgot to copy the IWD file with the map.
Double checking / redownloading should fix your problem.
The test server is down at the moment. It will be up again but I do not know when. As when you try to host a server yourself please keep these things in mind:
- punkbuster is off
- you executed rotu.cfg
- the gametype is set to surv (might need map restart), in console set g_gametype surv
- sv_maxclients is high enough to support both bots and players
- the reignoftheundead folder goes in the mod folder, the mp_.... go into the usermaps folder in your cod4 directory, create these folders if they dont exist
And about the crashes, we are still looking in to it. In the worst case it is caused by the bots themselves. I recommend keeping the bot count low (about 30), this will reduce the crashes.
The survival gametype was not the original gametype planned for the mod.
But anyways, the zombies were never supposed to flank you lol :P
It's a bit like any other zombie mod I must admit, but what we have planned is going to be a lot different. The mod is still far from done.
In the console, execute set g_gametype surv.
Yeah the gametype has to be surv.
If you launch the map for the first time (when the server isnt running) you can just use the map command. Besides, you also need to download those two maps. ModDB has not authorized them yet but they are available for download elsewhere.
I think you are confused with another mod. There is only one server running this mod at the moment and the mod is completely player vs bot based.
Right now the mod is hosted on 83.149.84.179:30000.
Nope. The mod wasn't ready for release yet, just for testing. Release/download will be hopefully this week.
There has been a beta server for over a week now :)
I coded the AI. There is unfortunately no standard cod4 ai in MP.
And h0ly and I are not the same person. ;)
