But now, things changed, most forums I used to frequent are now either deprecated or lost to time entirely. That when I turned up to ModDB, my new safe haven for all projects Half-Life related.

Alright,

Progress on Big Reb 4 is going butter smooth. I've got Norm slaving away on the technical work I can't be bothered with at the moment. On my part, I didn't really do anything Big Reb related. But, this is a personal blog and I'm not obligated to only speak about Big Reb (even though the polls show that you guys are quite hyped for the release).

I'm feeling wonderful. I'll tell you why – I caved in... I caved in. I couldn't take it anymore. The snail-like pace the mobile app had slowed down to was becoming unbearable. I had to do something and it didn't take long to know what that thing was. I never was too keen about spending on mobile games, but I have to tell you, once I did, I sure as hell didn't regret it. I remember it fondly, I was waiting for my character: Zorbak, a dark-demon-knight equipped with a full-set of level 30 amethyst armor (at a 2.865 star rating). Yet, there was a still, a hair in the soup. My account was still in the Gold Rank, meaning that my amethyst armor was de-buffed to about as resistant as a level 15 crow-charmer armor and about as durable as an early-game enchanted buckwhad wood armor (not as bad as a Flitcher armor). So that is why, when I was approached by the advertisement to level up to the Bluegoon Gold Rank for four bucks, it was a no-brainer! I immediately typed-in a rush my VISA credit card's information and tapped swiftly on the 'confirm purchase' button. As soon as I saw from my own eyes the Bluegoon Gold Rank emerge on the screen, a wave of ecstasy washed over my being. I still feel tingly at the moment. Now I can one-shot a level 13 ox-farmer and I can decimate an entire level 3 skeleton squadron in three light taps on the glass screen. I feel true power, something you wouldn't even begin to comprehend.

Back on Track! | Stan's Corner

BigStanR335 Blog

Hello, it's me Stan!

I hope you're having a good one, I sure am. We've got production of Big Rebelion 4 back on track! The way I see it, it should be fully completed in a few weeks – give or take. I just realized that the flock of new fans from the beautiful ModDB community cannot play the prior Big Rebelion experiences, nor Zombie Quest. I am going to have to work on that but that might be a challenging task.

I am the only one in the team that has access to the game files of all these aforementioned games. So it's my task to upload them and iron-out a few bugs while I still can for the ModDB release. Some of you might say that it's a pretty straight forward task -but in my case- I would have to disagree.

As some of you may know, I've been quite attached to a certain mobile game. To give you all an idea, I've refrained myself from playing this game for a total of six hours since my last blog post (and that time includes rest). I have to say, I feel dull from playing it now. The stream of mild dopamine I used to receive whilst playing on the app has been replaced by a true feeling of discomfort when distancing myself from it. I am now truly a slave to my smartphone. Everything in the game seems to have slowed down to a crawl, the only way to speed up the activity would be splurge a little bit of my paycheck on the in-game store. To this point, I have withheld the urge to purchase anything from the marketplace. Spending on mobile games never made sense to me, it seemed like an obvious waste. But now, I have to admit, the dots are connecting. I can see clearly why people cash-in for a little boost. The temptation is slowly itching more and more, I can't stop thinking how amazing it would be if I could level up instantly to Godhood, or rather, happiness. I think it might be the final piece of this puzzle. Once I've reached the next few levels, I think... I'm not sure but I think that I'll be satisfied. And then, with a little hope, Big Rebelion 4 will be a done deal.

Hey...

I've been meaning to write here. I have to admit, the conflict with Norm has cooled down. I feel silly for what I said. I didn't mean it when I called him a 'fruitcake', it was an impulsive insult that I now regret deeply. On the other hand, I'm pretty much over the fact that someone leaked the gameplay.

The only thing that's holding back now is this damned mobile game addiction, I can't turn it off. Even as I type these very words, my other hand is tapping mindlessly against my colorful, flashy screen. You wanna know what makes it worse? I am fully aware of my addiction and still I can't stop. When I'm playing this game, I get this... this feeling, it's not what I'd call joy – joy would be much better. But, it does feel better than sadness. In fact, this feeling is JUST good enough to keep me hooked like a stupid fish. I know I'd be happier if I'd put more effort in life and if I would just for ONE MOMENT put my damned phone down. BUT NO!.. NO!.. Playing this game it's just too easy, the mild but constant stream of half-cooked joy seems to have made me it's prisoner.

Hey look I just made thirty thousand points... Hmmm.

Letting off some steam | Stan's Corner

Greetings,

I wish I could say I was doing well, but unfortunately I'm doing far from it. As stated in the trailer of my new experience – or game as some would some call it! I gave away downloads to dedicated fans that requested an early playthrough. I've always been a trusting man, but someone unfortunately has breached the trust that I had fostered through the years.

Someone who's identity I will not reveal (by respect that is obviously one-sided), has leaked critical footage of both core gameplay and story. One of my fellow coworkers told me about this catastrophe. The video has obviously not reached the full public because the media has not reported as thoroughly on the subject as I would expect for such a major reveal.

Although, no one knows a shred of information about the leak. It is obvious to me that it IS only a matter of time before the information seeps out. For those reasons, I am pondering about going out "on my own terms". That is: I would leak the video MYSELF... At least, that's what considering at the moment. Certainly, I'll sleep on it.

On the other hand, progress on Big Reb 4 is underwhelming, we have loose ends that need to be tied up. I've been having frequent late-night (or early morning, call it what you want!) arguments with Norm... This fruitcake believes that the 'Fire Witches' shouldn't be equipped with firearms. I'm beginning to believe that he doesn't understand the wider scope of the game, it's a modern day action hero thriller! Of course, ALL THE CHARACTERS NEED GUNS! My frustration with this self-centered prick has been draining my energy for 3 whole days... That's 3 days that I'll never get back! I can tell you that with my 9-to-5 dead end office job and this damned mobile app that I've seemed to have gotten myself addicted to, the release of Big Reb 4 seems to be further from reach than I could've ever expected!

With that of my chest, I hope you -dear reader- have a good one.

First Steps | Stan's Corner

BigStanR335 Blog

Hello and welcome to my personal blog! Stan's Corner!

It's funny how I have to start from scratch again. I remember the glory days of working on Big Reb 3, I had built a tight knit community on some ill-faded board. But now, I've had to put that behind, I'm out of my rut and I'm excited to build something new on the grandiose 'ModDB'! That's what I call baby steps!

I'm going to try to post a little bit every day or so. Believe it or not, I'm not a full-time game developer -at the moment- but don't worry! I will find a way to manage a schedule between the monotonous office job, pet projects of the game development world and this new-fangled blog you're reading right now!

Anyways, keepin' y'all posted, 'till next time!
