Keeping this update really short because 'Back to the future' is on TV :-)Been spending a bit of time on my controls, trying to tighten them up I still feel they need a bit more work but they are getting there, getting better!I've started to introduce the story and I'm currently working on introducing a little spirit guy that will feed you the story as you play through the game. The story itself is coming on well.

Ive also been playing around tidying up some of the assets and collision detection, again it's getting better but still more work is needed.

Pigeon Brew - some major changes

bensimms Blog

So here is my update on what's been happening in the world of Pigeon Brew!I tweaked the chain system a bit. The chain tree was 'Gem Boost', 'Shield', 'big weapon', 'bigger weapon' and so on.
I decided chains should really be just weapons, gem boost and shield aren't weapons so it didn't really make sense to include them in the chain.

I decided rather than remove them completely to add them to the air drops. This now means when you collect a crate you'll be awarded something random to help you out. currently there are three items in the air drop "Gem Boost, Sheild and Bomb replenishment".

I tested this out and it actually works nicely, it also stop "camping" by encouraging the user to move.Im in the process of adding 'The pub' the pub at the moment has only a slot machine in which you can gamble away your winnings on the hope that you'll win some perks for your next game!

There are a fair few little fixes, too many to remember, things like new font, new background, repositioning and the other oddities. As per here is a video showing the new features in play.Youtu.be

Pigeon Brew

bensimms Blog

I'll be using this blog to update the development of my new game Pigeon Brew!

Pigeon Brew is an arcade fishing action game with bombs, planes, gems and space invaders!
Sounds mad?

I'm hoping so!

Once indiedb allows me too, I will upload some screenshots and videos of the game in action.
But for now I'll try my best to describe the game.

It's a 2D game designed with vector art, inspired by Zelda Wind Waker. You control a boat with a cannon attached. It is your job to blast the passing fish out of the water by timing your blasts so that the cannon lands in front of the fish.
If you hit the fish two things happen.
1. A load of gems and crystals are released, collect these to increase your score.
2. Your chain meter increases.

Your chain meter can be used to call in air support, air support comes in the forms of big arse weapons, like 'Mine Drop' or 'Invader' or "Big Frigging Laser' all of which help you kill more fish.

Your friend (which is a pigeon) flies past delivering bonus items for you, these include a shield, gems and more bombs.

So, where's the challenge? There's a great big octopus at the bottom of the lake your fishing on. He doesn't want you around so he releases barrels that had spikes attached to them. You have to dodge them, three hits and your out!

Sounding mad enough for you?
