yeah, the grid is actually there but you cant see it, that was just a bug, its being changed so that when you move closer the grid is visible, but if you zoom far out it fades away, should be nice :)

Yeah one of the games i regularly play is Advance Wars on the DS, I would like to think it's inspired from that.

I've made a fair bit of progress with both the map and the game, that is until my PC died :( I'm stuck on a crappy integrated graphics laptop until I get it fixed, so no HLT for a while :(
