To address recent comments... any impatience expressed by anyone at this point is legitimate. We have not been regular in posting updates. However, we have been regularly working on the mod. The team has a shaders expert revamping shaders. This in addition to ongoing scenes work, troop trees, equipment assignment, and still more new armor being added.

For the skeptics; over the last three years of this mod history, two team members left active development. Both times, it was over non-negotiable differences between them and the rest of the team. Both of them are still regulars on this mod comment section; actively and positively engaging with the team and the community. If they didn't have faith in the ability of the team to eventually deliver, they would not be here. These skilled and now veteran modders trust us, all we ask is you share that same faith.

Listen here. If either of you carry out this threat, i swear i shall horizontally flip all the houndskull visors in the mod, so that the breaths patterns are all on the wrong side. Understood?

Definitely. Every single preview shown here is for the WB version. We are not working on a BL version, and most of the team is not working on any other mod either.

I'm sorry for the lack of updates, but there has been MUCH more going on than we previewed. We merely were slow to preview stuff, because we are now in the late stages, namely troop equipment allocation, and the team now has a shaders expert consulting on visuals, so we got busy.

Sorry, we were all busy with IRL work/issues. But an update of our ongoing work is posted now.

The trope of the cowardly Frenchman is simply not supported by the events of the HYW. They fought doggedly and often dangerously, against an enemy with a near-mythical reputation. Their ability to recover from losing 95% of their territory, to fully expelling the English from all of France, demonstrates in fact, that the French only ever fled the field so that they could fight again. That is, in fact, a rarely appreciated form of courage called resilience. It might not win battles, but it wins campaigns; like it won France for the French.

Thank you for your feedback. This has been added to the list of potential bugs and is being looked at.

That has not been discussed in the team so far.

We didn't truly plan to overhaul everything, heh heh. It just sort of happened. We just hope you all find it worth it in the end. Sometimes i worry that the previews hype it so much that when it releases, it will actually be a disappointment. To avoid this, our previews are always actual screenshots or OpenBRF previews.

We do not wish to announce a release date, because that would put pressure on us. This is a hobby, our goal is to have fun. Also we are committed to a high level of quality, so we will release it when we are satisfied with it. Right now there is a lot of work still ongoing (female clothing, flora).

We are not releasing the mod until our demands are met. We want pepperoni pizza (without the pepperoni please). We want ten million helicopters and a dollar. If these are not delivered you will never see your beloved mod again.

I did do that for the sisal rope helmet on the left, but for the cloth padded helmet in center, i chose to model the folds, since the illuminations depict it in an almost turban-like thickness.

dont worry about the armor style fitting any specific time period, as GoT follows no time period, or for that matter, even logic. the dothraki dress the opposite of how nomadic steppe people dress. rural levy and faction lords wear identical armor in westeros. the most expensive mercenaries for hire, the unsullied, wear cheaper armor than most westerosi foot soldiers.

We don't know for sure. We do know it was metal, because the illuminations depict it in the same color as regular plate armor. This is most likely a brigandine-style construction, except for the head. The other forms are also often depicted, usually as some vague white or yellow material, forcing me to speculate.

In line with my reasoning: most of us, if we lived back then, would be more familiar with these forms of armor than the plate harnesses we like to power-fantasize about.

Yes, we haven't updated the mod for years now, because we were overhauling nearly everything.

Not difficult, and I am soon moving to model female clothing, so male robes can be done at the same time. Although, we haven't represented any monastic orders in the mod. So there is no scope to use these proposed models for now.

I didn't specifically make any. Do you have some in mind?

Armor
1. I observed some commonly occurring configurations of plate arm harnesses among French effigies of the period. So I am modeling those for French knights.
2. I am also expanding the range of realistic headgear for low-tier and mid-tier troops. This includes lowest-tier helmet designs that are seen in illuminations but never seen in mods.
3. At the other end, I have also begun to expand the headgear for elite troops, with some completely new basinet and visor models, an early armet model, 2 german bicoque models.

What do you mean by monastic clothing? You mean for monastic orders?

would also add that the plate armor you see in these image previews are not how it looks in-game. in-game, it is actually better.

catapults were not in use much at this time. trebuchets may be present as props, but not animated

AsherNitin - - 306 comments @ Faction Crosses

nah, that was in fact how i first did it, because that is actually easier than the method you see now. it looked cheap, like the cross was pasted-on the padded fabric. and it would be LESS reliable, since it would gape at the padding seams. so i switched it to the current version.
