There are two ways to modify Mount and Blade: editing the .txt files and using module system; my mod is made by editing the .txt files which is the simpler method of the two. Now, if you would like me to make a tutorial video, I would be happy to do so.

My justification is that the caravan masters get around alot on their trade missions and amass significant amounts of wealth allowing them to indulge in some exotic armor. Also, it adds a way for the player to acquire the armor.
