Hi evanwitt,

The Haunting Eyes move behind all objects, but they still can be shot by the player and they can also collide with the player. They can't collide with anything else and their weapon doesn't hit any object other than the player. Yeah, the Haunting Eyes are tough to beat with your primary weapon at level 1. From the 6th mission onwards, levels are filled with more enemies, so that before encountering the first haunting eye, you encounter enough raging bulls to get the laser weapon first, then shoot off the haunting eyes easily with lasers. This is important from the 6th mission onwards, since colliding with the haunting eyes gives you negative points. However, in the fifth mission, you don't encounter enough raging bulls to get the laser weapon first. Killing a Haunting Eye with the primary weapon is possible, but is very hard, since it takes 4 hits. But since points still don't matter in the fifth mission, you could just easily crash into the first 2 haunting eyes. The third haunting eye gets destroyed by a laser ray, unless you use the boost ability in a wrong moment, so that the laser ray misses the haunting eye.

Yes, there are 5 raging bulls that get destroyed, but one after another. It happens quite quickly, but it's still not as if they explode all simultaneously. There are also a lot of "x" collectibles. The goal is to interrupt the appearing of the laser beam icons in your weapon slots by collecting the "x" items, so that there never appear 3 laser beam icons in a row. It takes a bit of practice to pull it off, but since there are a lot of "x" items, it's not like it requires extreme precision. Just grab the "x" items at a relatively quick pace at the same time the raging bulls are getting destroyed.

Sorry again for the confusion. I can see how this fifth mission is a bit difficult to understand. I think all other missions should be clear. Still, please do not hesitate to ask me any other question that may come up. I'm always glad to help. :)

Hello evanwitt,

Thank you for asking this question here. I'm sorry if the instructions for this section are unclear. But indeed, you have misunderstood what the 5th mission is about.

You do not lose your secondary weapon when one of the alternate weapon slots changes. You only lose your secondary weapon when all three alternate weapon slots show the same weapon, and only if that weapon is different from your current secondary weapon. The "x" power-up is there to help you prevent switching to a different weapon. Here is how the 5th mission works:

The task is to finish the mission while having the "homing energy ball" as your secondary weapon. You first have to destroy 3 "Haunting Eye" enemies in succession to obtain the Energy Ball weapon. Then, you get to a point with lots of these "x" power-ups and also 5 "Raging Bull" enemies that automatically get destroyed by a laser ray. Each time one of these enemies gets destroyed, one of your alternate weapon slots changes to the laser beam weapon. If all three slots simultaneously show the laser beam weapon, your secondary weapon switches from the energy ball to the laser beam and thus, you will not be able to finish the mission. To prevent switching to the laser beam, you have to collect the "x" power ups, so that at no time the three slots show the laser beams simultaneously. Hope this answers your question. :)

As a side note, if you look back at the tutorial text for the 4th mission, you'll see the following text:

"Keep in mind that once you obtain a secondary weapon, it will only switch to a different weapon if all 3 boxes at the bottom right corner of the screen simultaneously show the same attack icon of a different enemy attack."

I probably should have repeated that text in the tutorial text for the 5th mission as well. :P Anyway, sorry again for the inconvenience. I hope it did not cause too much frustration.

Thanks for the heads-up! ;) But that typo is actually not my mistake. I didn't right the store description. It seems like it has been added from Desura/IndieDB staff. Still, thank you for the notice. I will see if I can change it myself and if not, will ask a Desura staff to change it. :)
