Poor bastards never had a chance thanks to coalition air power. looks like a Hellfire or some other kind of air ordinance hit the engine compartment from above.
No offence but I really doubt they would have stood a chance even without the the coalition air power.

Their T-72s guns (Not sure about their T-62s :/) had the same type of DU SABOT AT rounds that the Abrams used. If they got close enough to an Abrams then they could theoretically kill one. The main advantage the Abrams has over these older soviet tanks is better fire control for their main guns extending their range to engage targets effectively. They didn't really have that chance since a majority of Iraqi armor was knocked out by air power ... so much so that it was almost a 1 sided massacre :/
I thought their t-72/62 were using tungsten-based penetrators? not DU.
