Reserve Infantry weapon- The Owen II sub machine gun
Fires double loaded magazines with the easily manufactured 8.6x23mm rimless sub-machine gun/pistol rounds. Originally intended as a cheap weapon with which to arm local pro Imperial militias on the fringe worlds. However after over 40 years of service the Owen has seen significant changes and has been widely adopted amongst veteran and special units among Primus expeditionary forces. Here the above Owen II is armed with an under-slung smoke grenade launcher ( 4 stacked rounds electronically fired) and an Infrared scope (intended to be used in order to aim through the smoke). Cheap to make and easy to maintain, the Owen II has seen wide adoption all over the fringe worlds, despite its set backs in terms of range and stopping power (attributed to its ancient 8.6x23mm round).
Designed by the Australian firm META-STERN, the Owen II is the spiritual successor to the ancient Owen gun, an odd but respectable weapon used back on mother earth in ancient times.
