lol, seriously? it just reeks of cyberpunk.

-near future, hi-tech urban setting... check
-cybernetics, robotics and AI, computers, virtual reality being main themes... check
-"where lies the border between human and machine" theme... check
-machiavellian politics, corporations having huge influence on politics... check
-"detective story" vibe... check
and so on.

I remember this :D I loved theoriginal tachikomas here. Tis a shame they excluded them from the movie. Thankfully they were added in the tv series.

they are called fuchikoma. SAC changed their design and named them tachikomas.
though i recall fuchikoma actually make appearance at the end of SAC 2nd gig. they were portrayed as pretty robotic and soulless there, in contrast to tachikomas.

btw, i really don't think their silly voices would fit the somewhat serious tone of 1995 GitS movie.

Well in my point of view the fuchikomas were the predesesors of the tachikomas & thus one in the same aside from the newer AI in tachikomas.

yeah, blame the producer and exec director for that.
For leaving the Tachikomas out in the 1st movie.
They probably could come up with the right kind of concept of the tachikomas.
Maybe that is why they didnt put it in the movie.

I didnt like the part where they switched with the new ones.
I am talking about the Stand Alone Complex 2nd GiG(if anyone seen that.)
They were in the 2nd GITS movie.
I noticed in one of the parts of the movie.
Same concept and design.

Description

The original manga from 1989 by Masamune Shirow. a must read for every cyberpunk lover.

The story revolves around activities of Public Security Section 9, which deals with technology related crimes in cyberpunk japan.
similiarly to tv series, most of presented cases don't have much connection to each other.

Neither SAC nor Mamoru Oshii's movie stays 100% true to the manga's story, so if you have watched those, you can still expect to find new things in manga.
