for a ship with vtol, why doesn't it have a window on the bottom of the cockpit.
Maybe it has a camera faced down. The cockpit is pretty high up so making a window downwards would interfere with some key systems, like the forward thrusters and ballast tanks for example.
Why even have a glass cockpit then?

hmm, I think you might have slightly misjudged the scale of the ship. Look at the two figures to the right. Or look here: Moddb.com
Like I said, a camera to look down on a large vessel, be it a truck or a big loader of containers on a shipyard, is not uncommon to look in directions the operator cannot see. =)
