Based in Germany
Zeitgeist. A single player project set in the futuristic 1930s of an alternate history. Find the masterminds behind an attack on global peace, and dive into a world of devastation, science, clandestine operations, secret societies and intrigue...
Development of Zeitgeist was born from an idea we've had in early 2009; back then, the author, Til, was working on several WW2-related games and modificatiions. In order to be able to build credible and realistic worlds, he had to do a lot of research, which, back then, was best done buying - yes, books!
Til spent his Saturdays crawling flea markets instead of pubs, and, eventually, bought dozens of illustrated books on architecture, design history and the images of european and american cities in the 1930s. He was absolutely stunned by the relative modernism in style and design during that age; neon lights next to Art Deco buildings next to streamlined cars and medieval, half-timbered buildings...
Especially the "Bauhaus"-impact and the style involved with it, which was very obvious in both the interiors of airships like the "Hindenburg" or in the modern exteriors of skyscrapers and highrise buildings from London over Germany to the East Coast of the USA, left their impression on him: many of the 1930s images that he discovered could easily have been from the 1960s - or even later!
This "lesson in style" triggered his imagination, and he decided to mix that unique atmosphere with his passion for adventurous, clandestine stories, books and movies, search for creative compagnons, and from there on, the game was developing itself.
Well, it wasn't, but at least the story never ceased to fascinate the members behind the development of Zeitgeist - 1934.
