The game is set in the kingdom of Ventudare. In the game - Wrath of Skeletar - you found yourself in the time after the Great War. Skeletar´s rise and fall: The King´s propaganda says that Skeletar is the one responsible for the war. Truth is that the war began quite some time before Skeletar´s time. When Skeletar was a mere apprentice in the wizarding school - the one of which he would be later headmaster - a strange darkness started to spread across the land. Ancient and terriple powers of old awakened, those who laid dead in the ground for many years began to stir... A terrible hordes of the undead plagued the lands and started to threaten even the Capital city. It seemed those dark powers were able to command dead itself. According to some sources it was demon´s doing but King´s wizards were not convinced. It was this time Skeletar showed his exraordinary abilites in magic... especially in forbidden magic which he gained access in the Library of the Old town. He managed to gain control over the vast portion of the undead hordes and forced them back to the dirt. He saved the land from almost certain end since King´s armies were slowly but surely losing and King´s wizards were unable to turn the tide. For his succes his popularity began to rise. His meddling with the dark arts was forgiven for he did not lose his mind to the darkness. King´s wizards despised him naturaly, they could not control him nor overpower him. After some time of peace he was granted rank of Master of the Magic arts and rather quickly he became headmaster of the wizarding school. With his new position he gained infulence over the students and began to teach the forbidden magics - something the King´s wizards could not allow to continue. They conspired and resorted to the use of magic they forbid themselves. They raised a small army of the undead and destroyed some of royal outposts and laid blame on Skeletar, for his interest and use of this kind of magic was widely known, yet accepted. When King had been informed about recent events he was furious. He stripped Skeletar of his titles and privileges... Skeletar was cast out... It is said that this is the time when Skeletar turned to the darkness he managed to contain for so long... He called and surrendered himself to the dark powers in exchange for his revenge. At the beginning he only sought to crush those treacherous wizards but his mind was slowly twisted. Such is the nature of the Evil.

Skeletar´s transformation Kingdom of Ventudare: Kingdom of Ventudare is rather old kingdom wich was built upon the ruins of the old Empire. Only few scrolls remeber the time of the Old Empire. It is unclear what led to the Empire´s downfall - most certainly the inner conflicts are to blame. Although accroding to some sources the Empire fell due to it´s wizards´s meddling with the dark and ancient powers. Some consider those powers to be of the same origin as the powers upon which Skeletar called at time of his greatest need. It is said that those powers were in fact behind Empire´s magical dominance over its neighbours and they simply went too far... Be as it may, the Empire is almost all but lost to the time. Nowadays every wizard of the court will deny any connection to the old Empire´s magic. King´s wizards claim they use only white magic - if that should be true, how could Skeletar find anything about the forbidden magic? One thing is certain, not everything is as it seems... Maybe Skeletar was not so wrong after all... Time will tell. Nihard´s tale: Nihard was one of the King´s greatest knights. His valor and compassion knew no bounds. He would throw himself againts dozens only to protect the good and innocent people of Ventudare. After he completed his trials and earned some reputation for himself he decided to create a knightly order. Order of the knights who would eradicate any threat to the Kingdom with extreme prejudice and they were really good at it... When Skeletar declared the war upon the Kingdom, Nihard was first in the lines. Sweeping and cleaving through Skeletar´s minions he rushed to the rogue wizard himself. Skeletar atempted to corrupt his mind but all he discovered was Nihard´s will strong as a tower. Nihard mercilessly struck down Skeletar and bound him to the magical obelisk which would hold his spirit for all eternity. Skeletar was powerless to stop him, never before had he met such strong will. From that day, Nihard was known as Nihard the Valiant! Hero´s tale With the realm full of knights of Nihard´s order you happen to be an exception. In fact you are an outlander. You come from the neighboring kingdom. Not much is known about you and you tend to keep it that way. Afterall in this unforgiving time one cannot be too careful. You come from the northern kingdoms. It is in fact a little bit more complicated since it consits of several small kingdoms which have united just recently. But that is a tale for another time. Suffice to say that you are a capable warrior and you were sent here by your commander and you are a member of the royal guard of your kingdom. What does the fate have in store for you is yet to be decided... But by whom? Time will tell. Edited by: GravelGames |
