Post news Report RSS Weekly Update #2 : 07/06/14 (Late Edition)

This week we've been hiring and playing with our netcode.

Posted by on

Small update this week, we're very, very busy. This week we've been testing our netcode to see just how many players we can actually get in Unreal 4 and get it working. We've also been working on a map to showcase too (Warehouse 14).

Netcode

So, net code is very important to us, especially as War of The Servers is only multiplayer, we'd be fools not to get it working good. Anyway, we've been testing latency and lag and so far everything have been running very smoothly, there was next to no lag whatsoever between the clients and the server.

Speaking about servers, I should probably explain just exactly how the servers will work in War of The Servers. Basically, you'll have your typical clan server with a maximum of 32 people allowed. People looking to run a clan will run these servers and be able to set up a server themselves with ease by either purchasing a dedicated server to run our free software on or using their computer as the host which is the free option. This server is the clan's server so whatever happens here is up to them.

If a clan were to battle, it would plunge a set amount from each clan into a dedicated server monitored by our software just to make sure no one is cheating or there are no people AFK and don't need to be there. These dedicated servers will mostly be ran by us and server hosts out there also. You will also be able to apply for your own free license to run dedicated battleservers.

So what happens if there's nothing going on? No battles? Don't worry! That's why there will be public PVP. In Public PVP anyone is able to host a server which will show up on our global PVP server list. The server settings are up to you also, the amount of people, map rotation and so on. Public PVP is the place to go to get training and practice and even if you're just generally bored. However, you will earn nowhere near the amount of points you would earn in a full Battle, but rewards are given. Hope that clears things up.

Concept

So we've been putting some concept out there lately with the addition of a map concept, Skydive. Skydive is a very interesting concept designed mainly for Public PVP servers at the moment. The concept is both teams are in the air battling as they fall with lots of different aspects to it. (Don't want to spoil too much).

You may have also seen some weapon concept there too, this could give you an idea of some of the weapons you'll be seeing in War of The Servers.

Jobs!

We're almost always looking for new talent at Infinity and we're currently looking for a selection of people you can find by clicking the jobs link up top! We look forward to hearing from more of you!

So that's all for this week, expect some goodies for next week!
