Going over some things from the past, introducing new people to War of The Servers.

Posted by on

Welcome!
Okay, so, we're back. We've put our full attention in to War of The Servers and with the help of Unreal Engine 4, we've been able to add a lot more features, now due to lack of limitations we have now, we've been able to let our minds run wild with map ideas, here's a few to get you going.

  1. Alcatraz (Remake of Alcatraz Island)
  2. Warehouse 14 (Massive Warehouse, <3 for you if you get the reference)
  3. Drako (Large, outdoor.. that's all for now.)
  4. Powerplant (Reimagined Powerplant from the original War of The Servers Mod(
  5. Metrolink (Work it out..)

And there will be lots more to come. Shortly we'll be taking you through a couple maps once we get them looking shiny enough. Needs to be shiny.

Features
We had a lot of features planned for the original mod however those features have grown stale and we'd be fools to still use all of those features. At the time we were limited to what we could do, now we're like a puppy surrounded by lots of different toys.

Ordnance Drops
Ordnance drops do pretty much what they say on the tin. Ordnance drops in some maps can randomly come in, most commonly when a team is losing by a significant amount of points. Now, usually in the random ordnance drops, they land in a fair place in the battlefield, don't worry, the other team won't get ordnance drops knocking on their front door.

On the other hand, some maps allow ordnance drops to be called in after certain intervals. Unfortunately, these ordnance drops that are called in fall within a small area range so it can be determined where they are going to land, which could give the opposing team the upper hand, another downside to the called in ordnance drops is they don't have the BFGs the normal drops have. But hey, if you've got good aim you could always land one of those bad boys onto the enemy! Hoo-rah!

Destruction
Well, back in the mod we promised destruction, unfortunately, we got a head of ourselves just a little bit when we realised that you would need an extra beefy computer and would need to break Source Engines capabilities which were just not possible, thankfully because of Unreal 4, we can blow up the world.

Okay, so, we're not going to blow up the world, but we are designing a lot of our levels around destruction. Destruction will be a key part of gameplay, if you know someone is on the floor below you and you need to get there, blow the floor through and crash through the ceiling like Neo. We aim to make the destruction mechanic available as a tool in game, not all walls will be destructible however, unless you've got big explosives, they should do the trick. We will be showcasing destruction very shortly.

We want you!
No seriously, we do.

We need you, the magnificent community that without you guys, none of this would be possible. We know you're out there, talented artists, fantastic programmers, we want you! We're looking for people skilled in what they do and preferably used Unreal Engine 4 before.
