v1.0.0 (Ymir Edition) for Linux file - VALHALLA

Valhalla kicks off its journey by referencing Ymir, the mythologic Norse giant whose remains birthed our world.
While this release still adheres to the old ways, it signals the start of a potentially captivating adventure and serves as a reminder that rewarding endeavors unfold gradually, urging us to enjoy each step toward fulfillment.

Valhalla is an in-development, open-source science fiction FPS game project that blends casual gameplay with a nostalgic touch of old-school charm, infused with dark, scientific and existential humor.

• 9 gamemodes and 9 mutators
• 6 monsters to fight in Invasion mode
• Online and local multiplayer, offline bots
• 12 official maps and even more community maps
• Basic (and ugly) tutorial
• Included and intuitive octree-based map editor

Linux

The precompiled binaries included in this package were compiled on Ubuntu and can be launched by the included shell script.
The source code, however, is also included, enabling you to compile the binaries on your own machine.
To compile and run the binaries on your own machine, follow these steps:

• Make sure you have the essential toolchain and the SDL2, SDL2-mixer, SDL2-image and OpenGL dev libraries installed on your system
• Make sure the shell script "./source/enet/check_cflags.sh" has execute permissions
• Build the binaries using the provided "./source/Makefile" by typing

  make install

• Make sure the binaries and the included shell script ("valhalla_unix") have execute permissions
• Launch the (native/included) binaries by executing the script

At the directory "./bin/bin_unix", a small introduction to packaging is offered.
