Left4Quake aims to bring Left 4 Dead to the Playstation Portable.
flashlight its a bit strange, but really awesome work ;)
that's got to be the worst texturing skills i'v ever seen..please redo the textures.
You are a very nice person.
That was neither wrong nor rude. I completely agree. This texture looks horrible in every way. Come on, you can do a lot better than that
The texture is alright but could be better. Mod_Dylan instead of saying this is the worst texture you ever saw, why don't you give him some tips on how to make it look better?
Fun thing is, the guy is apparently on the team and thus had access to several renders of this for a few weeks now. Never said a word until just now.
the funny thing is, i never got the updates, and ask for them several times before deleting myself from that dropbox? As for the textures, i say this..because there truelly not "okay." they're bad and need work...i'm not a texture artist, so i can't give out tip's in texturing, but i know a good an bad texture when i see one...don't flaim me out for saving a guns texture.
It's his first gun texture? Good for what it is I'd say.
but not good enough, if it's your 1st texture don't use it, compare and learn from it, build off it...become better. don't just use what you 1st attempt.
the textures aren't that high anyway cause the engine they build on is pretty old
well, put it this way.. highly textured/converted to quake/= decent textures, poorly textured/converted to quake/= horrible textures.
I think the slide and the barrel look good except for the hole at the end being too small.
But the handle and trigger guard are just too blocky still. I know Mobster will throw a fit if you add polys to it, but it needs to happen.
As far the texture goes, the one on the right just needs to be lighter I think. I don't know what to suggest for the one on the left, but it definitely doesn't resemble a golden desert eagle very well.
I think it looks a little too pale, change the contrast?
Nice job, maybe make the barrel hole bigger
a dyke? do you know the term of a dyke? thanks for all the lovely flaim outs guys...i give up, if you want the gun to look like that, enjoy it looking ******, all im doing is helping. your obviously not getting my point..i'm not out to be a "douchebag." tough love is the best love...i learned it that way from others. if you just say "hey, its good! i like it." he'll never improve..he needs to know whats going on around him...like i'v said.
I think everyone's main point Dylan, is that he also cannot improve if you say "it sucks fix it". You gotta be specific. You don't need to be a texture artist to say "the handle grip texture is a bit low res" or something constructive. I think that's what everyone is trying to get at.
As for my example, its true, the resolution for the grip on the handle is a bit low. And to be honest it will be covered up by the hands. Other than that i think it looks good for a first texture.
Unfortunately, I agree with Dylan. For a first texture it's not bad at all compared to what it could have been. It looks a little plain and pale and a touch more detail would be welcome but just keep practicing. It's not terrible but I don't think it's up to the standards this game is aiming for. Despite Dylan being a touch rude I don't think he deserves all that negative feedback.
Dylan I agree, the best way to improve is not to have compliments just handed to you, but tough love is sometimes too tough. Please don't discourage him, rather challenge him to improve. Sometimes it's better to be fair. It's not ALL bad. If you treat him like an adult and help give him an idea of what to/not to do, not only will he improve, but you won't come off as a troll.
I think his textures could get much much better with some time. I'd like to see where he gets.
I honestly was about to go ape-**** for a second
if you look closely, the front of the barrel is clearly lighter than the part on top of the trigger guard,
this indicates a texture being overlayed onto the blank greyness, which explains for the paleness of the the wooden guard...
I saw some similarities between this, and MY COLT TEXTURE FOR NAZI ZOMBIES PORTABLE, then I took a closer look, and although there are some similarities, there are also some subtle differences.
I don't know, but something about this texture makes me think it's overlayed with something else
maybe because everyone knows deagles don't have wooden grips... that are faded -_-
but something makes me think it's my texture o.O, maybe it's my old colt texture... I'm not sure.
Rest assured, I have never ripped a texture nor will I ever rip a texture for such a purpose. This is all original, albeit obviously bad, work. Entirely made from scratch. If you wish I could even show you the XCF-File with the two million layers.
Aaand to add to the topic:
I am not a texture artist by any means. I suck at it, that's why. I don't like to make textures either. Which is why I am so bad. I joined this dev team because I liked - and still like - to make 3D models. I only made the texture because there was nobody else to do it. I know it's below our standards, but that's all I can give.
It's not terrible. I can see you making good ones in no time with some time and effort, along with lots of practice. I think you might actually like it once you can make textures up to your own standards.

Pretty much just this. With many a change in the modeling and my first and hopefully last weapon texture.
Emphasis on the first.
