We've been greenlit and two other big announcements.

Thank you so much to everyone who voted! We were greenlit on Thursday night. Within the next week we will start the process of getting the game up on Steam. We are VERY excited about this! To celebrate we thought it would be beneficial to share what we’ve been working on. We had a release plan that we put on hold because we decided to add two major changes to the game. Here they are:

  • Graphics Overhaul - For those of you that don’t know, almost every single piece of art in Tile Miner is open source artwork from this competition: "http://lpc.opengameart.org/static/lpc-style-guide/assets.html”. This was a limitation from the beginning. We did the best with what we had. Many of you have suggested to move away from open source graphics. We think this game could look a lot better than it does. We have already begun a complete overhaul of the graphics. We are currently looking for quality pixel artists who can work within a certain style of pixel art. Send your portfolio to chris@tileminer.org if you’re interested! This will take a good deal of time but it will be worth it in the end!
  • Multiplayer - This is by far the #1 request we’ve received. From the start we knew we wanted to have multiplayer but knew it would be a large undertaking. Currently all updates to the game will be placed on hold until we can make everything we have work with a multiplayer system. We’ve been hard at work on this for almost a month now. I can’t give any estimates as to how long this will take but keep in mind it’s a massive undertaking for just two programmers.

Again I want to say thanks to everyone who’s voted. We are very committed to getting this game out of version 0.15 and all the way up to version 1.0 and beyond.
