The Duelist is a game in the mixed turn-based RPG genre. The action takes place in medieval Europe of the XIV-XVI centuries. The game tells the story of a former mercenary embroiled in a confrontation between the Coalition of City-States and the Papal See. The player will go from free mercenary to commander of his condottieri squad and play a prominent role in the fast-paced war. The game feature is the ability to play in two combat modes - the 1vs1 duel mode and the squad mode. Movement around the map is tied to the base camp to organize the supply of the detachment on a long campaign. The player can send a party of up to 5 characters to explore the area around the camp while the others gather resources or repair weapons.
We are inspired by the Middle Ages when we make the game, but we don't claim to be 100% accurate. We ordered historical information, read books, and watched movies to take from their interesting details and maximally convey the atmosphere of those times. But still, we don't want to limit the world of the game by a strict scope, so as not to deprive it of interest for the sake of historical truthfulness.
Among the games that inspire us there are such as Diablo 2, Neverwinter Nights, and Darkest Dungeon. You can definitely expect the game to have a dark color scheme, a sense of danger, and a bit of dark humor.
