In order to attack you must have a weapon or gun. Weapons never break and they get stronger as you progress through flamethrower best, baseball bat worst. It includes so enemies scale with you, so you get stronger they get stronger as well. In order to attack you must have a weapon, upon spawn one can be grabbed by opening the chests and talking to the guards. This shows how one can achieve the simple task of attacking. Then you may press Z to swing your weapon and attack enemies P.S. Dont hit the guards they will smite you instantly.
