Another busy week has passed as System Recovery slowly matures.

Progress has been good, though I keep underestimating the amount of time and effort it takes to complete each task, all the while things need constant revisitng... So here's what I've been busy doing.

As I said in last week's article, my focus was on the first boss initially, though after adding the unit and its arena, a bunch of things took priority.

I had to extend the weapon system, because it lacked the ability to spawn units (characteristic of the first boss), and the pickups also needed to have tooltips, which turned out to be a lengthy task.

Weapon tooltips

Ever since I began developing the game, the most frequently asked question by friends and family was whether it is possible to win and/or lose yet. Having the first boss ingame, it was the perfect time to address the matter.

With that out of the way, my attention turned towards fleshing things out - mainly adding more weapon types obtainable by opening packages randomly scattered on the levels, plus a few additional enemy types to liven things up.

Sadly, I'm not quite "there" yet. I keep having to hold off on video footage because I want things to look harmonic for when the time comes. But know this, screenshots don't do the game justice... it'll be awesome, I swear.

The warp gates have opened

The AI rewrite is now more important than ever, because I've had supposedly inanimate packages pursue me, and when I added a test weapon to summon my own minions they turned on me without question. :)

That should paint a picture of my ambitions for next week... See you then!
