FAQ for SAO Thread - Sword Art Online

Q: Will it support Oculus Rift?
A: No. The only hardware that is supported is Nerve Gear.

Q: Can I help with development of the game?
A: If you would like to help with development of the game please go to our forums, and post what you are experienced with doing.

Q: Can I register for the beta now?
A: No. The game is not even close to being in beta. There will be a further notice.

Q: Can I play it now?
A: No. The game is still in development.

Q: Permadeath is supported?
A: Yes.

Q: How many quests are there going to be per floor?
A: 100-150 unique quests but it's a subject to change.

Q: Will there be any hidden/special quests?
A: Of course.

Q: Will the quests be related to the show?
A: Not all the quests, some of them will be related to the Anime like a story mode .

Q: Will we be able to do quests more than once?
A: Yes. There will be repeatable quests also.

Q: How exactly will the perma-death work?
A: Well Cardinal should regeister death when the players heath reaches zero then it will delete the character from its database, meaning that if you are married all items go to spouse. Then you will be prompted into the character creation area to make a new character where you will then start at level 1 on floor 1.

Q: What kind of internet connection is going to be required?
A: Highspeed.

Q: Will there be skills that have nothing to do with battle? (e.g, Blacksmithing and cooking)
A: Yes there be skills like cooking,woodworking, fishining and many more.

Q: The test process (Alpha and BETA) will be done on NG or PC?
A: The BETA will be on the NG.

Q: Will the game release for free?
A: There might apply a small fee. Subject to change in the future.

Q: The test part (BETA) will be an open or a close one?
A: The BETA test will be a closed one.

Q: There will be multiple servers or just one?
A: There would be only ONE server, that means there would be a limited amount of copies.

Q: Will the armor use level system or it will level up with the player?
A: The armor will depend on the players stats. Subject to change in the future.

Q: Will the mirror feature be available?
A: Maybe. We never thought about that.

Q: Will the bosses respawn so everyone can fight them?
A: No the bosses won't respawn.

Q: How the critical hit will work?
A: If you hit on a certain spot/s will land a critical strike.

Q: Will you trap us into the game?
A: It might be tempting but we don't want to get sued.

Q: Will we create all 100 floors and 100 bosses?
A: Yes all 100 floors and 100 boses will be available.

Q: Will we raise a kick-starter?
A: We would love to do so.

Q: Can we have ingame relationships?
A: Yes and also you can marry someone.

Q: Can we have shops?
A: Players can buy their own buildings, which they can turn into shops, guild halls etc.

Q: When will Sword Art Online come out?
A: The estimated date for the release is the same date it came out in the light novels November 6th, 2022.

Q: Is the project dead?
A: No, the project was never dead.

Q: Will precipitation be in the game?
A: Yes, There will be seasons such as summer, winter, fall, and spring.

Q: Can I apply for the beta now?
A: No, the game issn't even close to beta.

Q: How many copy's of the game will there be?
A: We are starting out with 10,000 copy's of SAO.

Q: When will the Nerve Gear come out?
A: The Nerve Gear is scheduled to be released to the public sometime before the game comes out. Subject to change in the future.

Q: Will the currency be they same as it was in SAO?
A: Yes, Col is the main currency of the game.

Q: Will the UI work as it does in the Light novel/Anime?
A: Yes, it should work the same way.

Q: Will you be able to make your own shops/Restaurants?
A: Yes, you can buy a shop/house and do whatever you want with it.

Q: Are you actually making the Nerve Gear? Or is it going to be a mixed version of the Oculus Rift, Omni, Virtual Gloves, and possibly the Epoc?
A: We are making the Nerve Gear.

Q: Will there be special items in the game that you would only be able to get from a boss fight?
A: There will be last attack bonus items at the end of each boss fight. There will also be unique items found within the game.

Q: How will the beta testers be chosen?
A: They will be chosen at random.

Q: Will the Nerve Gear include all the senses?
A: Most if not all.

Q: How much will the Nerve Gear cost?
A: $900-$2,000. But there will be sales.

Q: What will the graphics look like?
A: They will be realistic.

Q: Will there be special skills that only few players can achieve such as dual wielding?
A: Yes, there will be skills that only a few players can get with their player status. If that player dies the skill will go to the next player with the highest ____ status.

This FAQ will be updated every time a few questions are asked.

When I heard there would only be 10,000 copies available i went ballistic.... then i went and checked how many people were watching the SAO Page Watchers1,485 members i calmed down quite a bit.

Im just asking, Is the SAO game and the NerveGear already have been made??? And how much is the cost for playing the game and all???

will the nervegear register you as male or female and you're allowed to customize everything other than the gender or like other mmo's will that be a choice to play as a character that is male or female despite your gender in real life

It doesn't matter really, if you want to play as a girl if your a guy, go ahead and vice versa.

Go watch Sword Art Offline, ironicly they explain why people might want to be the opposite gender.

How would the NerveGear work though? I don't think it can work with microwaves like in the light novel/show.

IT'll be in first person

The Graphics will look similar to the pictures of the characters that have been uploaded already, of course by the time the rest of the game has been completed they will look much better.

eh I wouldn't e so calm quite yet ive got just about half my choir class interested in this and they check this website sometimes but they don't have their own accounts so they log in as a guest plus a watcher is just someone who has their account set up so they get all the notifications when things are updated or when something new is added like a picture but keep in mind there probally a lot more who keep close eyes on this game but don't follow it but I don't blame them sometimes all the notifications can get on a persons nerve and they just want to go look for themselves instead of having a notification tell them but don't worry it not as if my whole middle school knows then youd have to be worried cause most of the students at my school are die hard SAO fans you kidding I came to school one wearing a SAO shirt and my friend tried to rip it off me. so no need to worrie yet however that crazy friend of mine is well aware of this game so yeah.....

Sword Art Online is a vrmmorpg exclusive. If you got to play it as a mmorpg you wouldn't have the same feel as a vrmmorpg. But I can tell you that the Nerve Gear is being worked on and sword art online will be a exclusive game to it.

a question i got from my friend. "How will you guys make the nerve gear give taste to the food you eat ingame?" personaly i got no clue myself which is why i wanted to ask ^^

Uhm it might be a little too early to ask but if the game is going to be sold at some point it would be great to know where.
If you guys could tell me where it's going to be sold (or just write it in the updates at some point) that would be great ^^

Personally i think that taste isn't important. If we skip the senses of Taste and Smell i personally wouldn't mind at all i would actually be happy about the NG Being finished some 10 years earlier then it would have been.
