3d artists checklist...

Before you start work on a model.....

  1. Check your polycount, (every model will be allotted a budget that you will have to stick to)
  2. Download all reference and concept images from sugarsync
  3. Talk to the 3d team and the concept artist who created the concept get the details in your head before you create ANYTHING
  4. Does your model need LODs (every item needs LODs) if so make sure you plan them when planning your full detail model
  5. Are you texturing the model or are the 2d team (find this out before hand)

While working on a model....

  1. Save a back up of your work to sugarsync regulary (every 3 days at the least)
  2. Start a WIP thread on the 3D WIP Section of this forum and post regular updates of your work. (others might be able to help you make your work that little bit better)

Before your 3d art is accepted and put forward to the game....

  1. Double check your poly count, (are there edges you can remove that do not effect the silhoutte of the model?)
  2. Post images of the models wireframe and clay render on the forum (somebody might notice something you have missed)
  3. Check your uv's are they tidy (some models will be textured by the 2d team and they better be able to work on your uv layout)
  4. Check with the animators that your model is suitable for them to rig and animate

ONCE all of that is done you may then submit the model
