StarDrive is a 4X Action-Strategy game where the goal is to build a space empire. Starting with a single planet and a small number of space-worthy vessels, you forge out into the galaxy, exploring new worlds, building new colonies, and discovering the StarDrive universe. The heart of StarDrive is its ship design and combat engine. StarDrive takes a module-based approach to ship design, allowing the player to create custom ship designs where the composition and placement of ship modules really matters to the performance of a ship in combat. In combat, if your portside armor is taking a beating, then rotate around and show them the starboard side! Hide behind a friendly capital ship's shields, warp into and out of the fray, launch fighters, lay mines, and so much more.

Well, i'm sorry to say but the patch didn't work out very nicely :(

The resolution options got screwd up again and i had to manually alter them in the config again to even enter the game, and the FPS went up from 11 to only 17, still nigh unplayable, and i'm preety sure it's not my laptop that is that bad, since i was able to play crysis on medium settings acceptably.

Any way to improve performance that i'm not thinking of? Cheers

Damn. I'm not sure where your performance hit is. Problem is, at this point I am pushing features out and I have spent very little time looking at the bottlenecks on slower machines. I will find and address these issues -- StarDrive is not very graphically intense -- but you'll have to give me some time to figure out where it is. I need a slower computer to test it on.

Hey insectus, since you have a laptop, I'm assuming you have a dedicated and a secondary graphics card (usually intel HD graphics). What i know of star drives right now is that it automatically runs with the intergrated intel HD graphics card since it is an alpha. What you need to do is to change what graphics card it runs with when you start it up. If you have a Nividia card, then i can certainly help, just give me a message and i will show you the steps to changing what graphics card you need to run it with for a better performance! If not, then do some searching around for answers, its not that hard to find people with the same problem.

Just tried the new patch and it actually got worse, although not in a significant way (from 17 to 16fps). :(((((

@tony 29: thanks for the advice, but i have ATI, i'll try to find something around on how to do what you said.

Thanks for both replies anyway. Cheers

Hey guys! I'm new here, but i have an issue with this new patch.
The game worked perfectly up until this one.. I cannot even launch the game!

I have a Windows 7 64-bit system.
8 gig ram and the works.
I can run crysis on ultra graphics, so i know its not my graphics card incapability.
I'm going to try updated my graphics card drivers incase there might be a problem there, but otherwise the game just goes directly into a crash.
I have:
1) Launched manually through the desura/common/stardrive folder
2) Changed windows compatability to xp/vista
3) Tried every one of the above with AND without admin priv.

I still cannot get the game to run.
I would appretiate any help on the matter at hand.

Thank you for taking time out of your days to read this.
Sincerely,
Nandor
