The story of Shinya takes place in fictional town Spielburg and its environs in continental Western Europe during late Middle Ages.
The protagonist is a twelve years old girl called Sara, who lost both her parents at very early age and has been brought up by a distant relative. When coming back to her hometown (aunt plans to get her married to "get rid" of her) she gradually starts to feel, that something sinister is happening behind the scenes at the otherwise tranquil town. For some reason or the other (she is very young and not perfectly reasonable always) she starts to investigate it - and will be involved in complex and dangerous plots...
The gameplay is mostly exploration and interaction with NPCs - plus some minor combat and magic added. The environment is about 16 km2 freely navigable terrain with constant day-night cycle.

I found the download links on your website, the archive of the Linux version seems to be broken (archive is not a tar file). I tried to run the Windows version using Wine, but it just played some electronic music.
Can you try to redownload it? I tested and it worked for me.
The file size should be exactly 42 371 616 bytes.
Also I have messed up something so it is tarred twice, but otherwise seems ok.

I tried:

And it worked for me :-/
I used graphical tools and not the terminal :p
Your instructions do have a small mistake in the last line (.gz).
Extracting worked, but starting it dropped me a invalid encoded error log. Possibly this happended because my OS is 32bit and not 64bit.
I'm currently downloading it. I found a weird thing about the download: if you don't use rightclick->save as, it will try to display the archive as txt (and just output cryptic symbols as result).
