Got Doors Working!
At first there was an issue with players being able to see the rooms of other buildings when they entered a house, but I ended up writing some code to place every structure on a different Z coordinate. This combined with a big black texture proved to be a great solution. So yeah hitting "W" will allow you to enter through doorways to scavenge for some loot.
Descend into the Abandoned Mines!
Ladders were a bit tricky to get working on the main surface and higher platforms, but some fine tuning of triggers and colliders seem to do the trick. Pressing "S" while in a ladder's trigger will allow you to descend and fall at a safe rate. In order to climb up, all you have to do is jump while inside of the ladder's trigger.
I want there to be a lot of escape options for a player when they are being chased by enemies or bandits, so I added an underground strip that encompasses the entire map. So you could actually just stay underground instead of walking on the surface, but I will most likely add some nasty enemy spawns the deeper players go. I'm excited to get started on underground expansion into sewers, secret laboratories, bunkers, etc. The possibilities are endless!
