Misc
Pressing escape no longer closes the game, instead type /quit within the chat box.

Caelum Sky System
This system allows for natural transitions between night & day with added cloud effects.

  • You have the ability to set the hour & minute.
  • The system allows for the adjustment of humidity levels and wind speed which directly affect the cloud density.
  • You have the option to enable / disable the sun & moon light effects.

Loading ScreenThe loading screen replaces the black screen upon launching the game.

  • Original Realm Zero artwork will be supplied as the background screens.
  • The progress bar indicates the current status of the resources being loaded.

Shaders & Graphic Enhancements
The first implementation of shaders has been added to the game. This area still needs more work and will probably be outsourced to another developer.

  • Implemented basic HLSL & CG shaders to allow for NORMAL maps.
  • Added CSM (shadows) to the game to help give a more realistic look and feel. (Due to dramatic performance impact these have been temporarily removed.)
  • The world scale has been increased and the result is much higher detail on objects and terrain.
  • Grass & plants have made their first introduction.

Item PlacementThis is the first introduction to dynamic item placement within the environment. Currently items placed will only exist for your current game session.

  • Item placement is accessed by pressing the insert key.
  • You can close or cancel the item placement dialog at any time by pressing the escape key.
  • Moving the mouse wheel up or down will rotate the currently selected object.[*]You can edit the placement of an object by entering [edit] mode and selecting the desired object.

Note: If you would like to provide your own 3D models for placement within your environment simply place them in the following directory.

Model Directory: "C:\Users\[PROFILE]\AppData\Roaming\Realm Zero\data\models"You can find tutorials on creating models compatible with Realm Zero with the link below: Realmzero.com

Debug Console
Here you have a wide range of control over different environmental and physical aspects of the game.

  • The debug console is accessed by pressing the `(tilde) key.
  • You have the ability to change clipping distances & fog levels.
  • You have the ability to adjust shadow distances and clipping parameters.
  • You have the ability to change the rendering mode to (wireframe, point, textured).[*]You have the ability to toggle the (physics) line visibility.[*]You have the ability to adjust the paging and imposter distances.[*]A new debug camera has been added that allows for unrestricted free-form movement.[*]An additional debug information panel was added to display scene statistics.

Bug Fixes

  • Collision Bug @ Cement This bug would cause players to become stuck in objects and require the player to turn another direction to escape.
  • Tree Animation@ Cement This bug would cause tree foliage to become a blocking component within the 3d environment.

Known Issues

  • We are currently working on improving the current camera system. In this release you will notice the camera acts jittery and will randomly snap towards a direction. This is a result of the increase strain on rendering the scene and will be resolved when the new camera controllers are implemented.
  • You will notice the grass & flowers draw above spell effects.[*]If you try and (unequip) a weapon, you will crash.[*]Shadowing and Shaders have been disabled for the moment as the performance was too low, given the current camera controllers.
