ProjectOS is a space stradegy game in development which is inspired by Homeworld and various other Science Fiction games. The game is currently in development by a one man development "team", and targets Windows, Mac and Linux PC users.
Early preview of Homeworld inspired Fighter behaviors within the Unity5 editor.
Fighter class units use a completely different set of code and objects than larger ship classes. They will also inherit primary(player assigned) and Secondary ( auto selected) targets from a carrier that launches them, allowing them to act autonomously to minimize micromanagement in the event a player becomes overwhelmed in a larger battle - however fighters can also be given targets manually as a formation, or even as individual fighters that do not belong to any formations.
The fighters do not have their new weapons yet, but they cast yellow lines to indicate when and who they are firing at.
Their reaction to larger (frigates) is also tested.
AI without player defined targets in Aggressive stance will switch to any unfortunate targets that happen to be within their targeting cone almost instantly, allowing fighter class entities to strafe multiple targets in a single pass.
This is a work in progress.
I am still working on improving fighter logic and will hopefully have carriers working again soon for the next video.
