Pokémon3D is a recreation of the old Pokémon games Gold/Silver by Nintendo/GameFreak (but, of course this game has nothing to do with them ;) You're the hero of the game, and as usual, you want to be the best Pokémon trainer of all time. So let's go, visit some grass and catch, battle and defeat wild Pokémon, explore towns and routes in 3D, collect items and Pokémon, play with a friend in LAN co-op and much more. The game is currently under development and features are added frequently.

I mind as well start a thread for this since I am sure some Linux users will be coming by. Any current Linux users manage to get this sucker running in WINE? I did a quick start on it and it crashed right off of the bat so I am sure I will have to fiddle around with it for a couple hours this weekend to get the libraries necessary for this to run correctly.

Update:

Using PlayonLinux latest version I am slowly getting closer to getting this thing to run on Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS. So far .net/xna framework was installed via WINE along with Visual Basic Power Packs. Current install packages include mono28 (Mono 2.8), vcrun2010, corefonts, msvc100, and d3dx9_43.

Took a break to update this but currently I will have to deal with the current error which is "Implement Type Compare for 1b. err:mscoree:expect_no_runtime Process exited with mono runtime loaded." After I address these error's I should have this game running (Hopefully) and I will post a separate thread for a step by step tutorial so us Linux guys can enjoy the game as well.

Update:

All errors fixed however getting a error that is not showing up in the logs for Invalid Start Parameters and this is the only thing keeping me from playing this game. Since this is in a Windoze environment I spoke with a Windoze guru I know and all he can say is that error states that something is missing. So going to go back through the libraries to see if I missed anything essential.

Update:

Got the launcher launched and just patched to the current version however it appears that it is not loading the actual game or slow at doing so.

Could you make a tutorial as to how you got this working? I've been trying for a couple of days but have been completely unsuccessful -- so any help would be VERY appreciated

I got it to work in ubuntu 13.04, PlayOnLinux 4.2.1, Wine 1.5.28
Needs to be 32 bit wine.
Make a new virtual drive
Install dotnet40 xna40 d3dx9 directmusic directplay wmp9
Put the launcher in the virtual drive created for this
Than make a shortcut for pokemon3d ( most likely not needed, but will make launching it easier)
Let it download the latest version, than play it
than press M to mute it and it works for me
