Pokémon3D is a recreation of the old Pokémon games Gold/Silver by Nintendo/GameFreak (but, of course this game has nothing to do with them ;) You're the hero of the game, and as usual, you want to be the best Pokémon trainer of all time. So let's go, visit some grass and catch, battle and defeat wild Pokémon, explore towns and routes in 3D, collect items and Pokémon, play with a friend in LAN co-op and much more. The game is currently under development and features are added frequently.

I was thinking about the different generations of pokemon, and how there's the general sentiment among some that "enough is enough", we're getting too many, etc... I had some ideas about how to implement those generations in P3D. You could:

  • Make them as addons - each gen would be a separate plugin/DLC and you could mix and match to your preference
  • Make them specific to that region (Hoenn, Johto, etc) and you can only catch them in that region
  • Make them region-specific UNTIL you visit another region, then that region's Pokemon start appearing in other regions you've visited
  • Make all of these ideas happen and have a config file that toggles these options for your game, so that you can enjoy it the way you want

Ultimately, of course it's up to nilllzz, and I'll support whatever he decides. Personally, I like the first two gens best; they seem most genuine, and 251 Pokemon was manageable. Maybe it's just my generation though. In any case, I'd love to hear your thoughts, and any other ideas on how to best address this.

I am behind this 100%. Although there are a few things I'm curious about. Namely: would the DLC/Add-on be free and how many more generations would it include? (I'd probably suffer a happiness-induced stroke if I could get Lucario, but that's just me)
