We wanted to let you have more influence on our progress, so it's time to start the ball rolling.
We will hold battles in the current pre-alpha, in which only one can emerge victorious. Three-man teams are awaited, who have to abide by the following rules:
- You can enter with yourself and two of your friends, or you can enter solo. Solo players will be randomly matched with other solo entrants. If there are not enough solo entrants, a player may choose to enter alone, or with the partner they've been assigned.
- Each player will be allowed one pokemon, no switching and no recalling. Recalling will count as a forfeit on that player's part and they will be eliminated. Once all three players in a team have had their pokemon fainted or forfeited, the opposing team wins.
- Players may choose whichever pokemon they wish (ie all three charmander, two squirtle and a bulbasaur, one of each, etc).
- Battle ground will be the rocky area. Players leaving this area will be disqualified.
- All matches will be observed by staff members. Any matches made outside of staff observation do not count.
Anyone found to be using third party programs to alter their game or otherwise participate unfairly will be disqualified and banned from the game, we have a no tolerance policy against cheaters.
The great prize will be the right to choose the next pokémon to be modeled and animated.
Entrants will be accepted until next Sunday, the 26th of October at the Forums.
This early in the alpha with really choppy gameplay?! :/ I'll have to pass on this one.
Yes it's choppy but it's just for fun. The prize for the winners isn't really a prize it's just a little incentive to do well. In the future tourneys will be with better balance gameplay but right now this is just for fun =D
i think somebody is just scared of a little competition. Im down, i think it will be awesome to win it and pick the next Pokemon. Its like having a part in the development of the game for those of us who are not developers.
Cool I'll add you to the list. Remember to keep an eye on the forum thread for your matchup since that will be where the brackets are updated!
so can i enter the tournament? how?
Head over to the forums and take a look at this thread: Forums.planetpokemon.net
Guys I know this is not the place.. But could I suggest u guys to switch the engine, from unity to unreal engine 4.. It's rather inexpensive and its got awesome particle effects and decent rendering and lighting. U guys shd give it a try.. It would be perfect for this game. Thank u.
I would say, it really is better, but for a free project, it is too expensive.
Also, our lead developer actually already knows Unity. He'd have to learn the Unreal Engine before he could start developing in it and train the other developers how to use it which would cause development to be heavily delayed.
Not to mention that Unreal uses it's own proprietary programming language which not everyone picks up unless they're looking to develop specifically for Unreal.
There are certain advantages with working with out of the box unreal, but to be honest the aren't things we necessarily need. Things like rendering effects, shaders, and particles are all things we can do custom in Unity, and since our team has experience with that engine it's a much faster learning curve for newcomers.
Oho , thats pretty cool :D
There must be more of "events" like this !
I'm sure there will be, it'll be fun!
Can i still join the tournament or is it set ?
Brackets have been announced on the forum so registration is closed.
If you want you can show up as a backup in case someone else doesn't show up for the first round.
