Phobia 1.5 is a story based first person survival horror game. It's the second game in the series; with Phobia: The fear of the Darkness being first, and upcoming Phobia: Fear of the Unknown being the third.
My god! Now I remember I posted a review on the first Phobia game, and it was... not very good. But this! Not only is this just an improvement on the first game, I might actually go as far as to say it's one of the best free indie horror games out there! Let me start of by talking about the graphics. For an FPS creator game; it looks great! The very detailed textures and very nice bump mapping really are very well done! The story, although a little far fetched is very good and I really liked it! The level design is a little awkward in some places but is overall very good. Just like the first game, the house starts off in complete darkness until you find the generator and bask the house in light! Except you don't... in fact the game stays quite dark, which I think works in the games favour! Now on to main part of the game, the first appearance of the monster. Where as in the first game it was very dull and boring, the first appearance in this game is very well done! A very good tense build up and then finally... BAM! Right in your face! Very, very well done this time round and the monster is actually very frightening! Now what about bugs... something the first game was full of... well I'm pleased to report that the game only crashed once and that was when I fell through the attic, but I only lost a couple minutes progress, so it was ok. Now the ending. The final section of the game was very well done and very intense with the siren blaring and the lab falling apart! I loved it! The final conclusion of the game was also a very satisfying one, unlike the first one that I actually didn't get to see... Any way, overall the game is excellent! I loved every second of it! It's scary, it's got a good story, and the gameplay is very strong! Hats off to the developer on this one! I think a sequel is in order here!
This game is very enjoyable. It takes me back to the days of point and click . Also nice creepy feel to it with music and the darkness and sounds that come in certain rooms. Love the game
I have to say that this game is pretty damn well done. Graphics, sounds, ambience, music, it's all nicely done, incomparable to the "Fear of the Darkness" game, which, I have to say, wasn't good. The game has quite some inspiration from Scratches, that I noted multiple times too, which indeed gave me the creeps.
Attention to detail is also pretty high, which is something I usually like, especially in spooky places such as that.
And then the story... speechless right there. That plot twist... I'm sure I wasn't the only one who hit that right there. But it gives an in-depth explanation as to how "that" happened too.
Game is generally well-done, the engine might be a limitation here and there, but you worked with it to the best of your abilities, of course. Only had one CTD, but got back into it. Aside from the wonky monster AI, the game is good. It got stuck multiple times on my side, which lead to more scares eventually.
Well done here!
Pretty cool video, scary and enjoying, with puzzle parts that require some thinking to figure out! :)
Well done and I hope you'll make the next one even better! :)
It's really atmospheric. Keep up the good work!
this game awesome. I know what it takes to make such a good game from the fpsc engine and the way this game was mod. so yes I give it a ten. this game was well put together from the sound effects to the creepy music. this is pure fun.
( shortest Review ) About 6 minutes in the game * not saying what happened * it was a peacful game i quickly drew the thought of slender not knowing if i needed pages or what not but i eventually found myself umm how do i put it not rage quiting but yet scared quit? idk it was a fun 6 minutes im probably going to do a Lets play on this and wish to play the next game if i beat this one
Wow, I just don't know what to say, no offence but the first Phobia game was kind of poop, but this is absolutely amazing! Major comeback! It's got to be one of the best free indie horror games I have ever come across!
Quality: The graphics were really good looking for an FPS Creator, also the ambience was really nice, I loved most of it all the time! The tensity and chills just by the graphics and ambience kept me on my toes ever since the very beginning! Story: I actually kinda liked the story a whole lot, something I appreciate, you probably put some thoughts to this! Scares: The scares were so awesome, literally only once or twice was the scare cheap, but damn other than the cheap ones, I was scared as hell! Lag: Didn't experience any lag at all, you did good at making not to big of a level or to much stuff for the PC to process! Length: I honestly really like the length, perfect for a short horror game like this, well worth the time I spent on it, maybe 4-5 episodes of 15 minutes or so! Took me all in all 1.5 hours to finish it!
Quality: BIG 9 - Story: BIG 8 - Scares: BIG 9 - Lag: 10 - Length: 10 - Absolutely a complete comeback of the game once called Phobia that was kinda crap at first, but this, changed it's history for definite! Amazing job, I just loved this game so much! Keep going man, this could be something really special one day, not that it isn't already though!
It really is expecial, game is atmospheric as ****!
Its Good **** and The atmosphere is excellent.
