Quico’s best friend, Monster, is a huge beast with razor-sharp teeth, but that doesn’t scare Quico away from playing with him. That said, Monster does have a very dangerous problem: an addiction to poisonous frogs. The minute he sees one hop by, he’ll scarf it down and fly into a violent, frog-induced rage where no one, including Quico, is safe. And yet, Quico loves his Monster and wants to save him. As Quico, players will build their friendship with Monster by solving puzzles together and adventuring through a magical, surrealist world. Players will need to learn to use Monster’s emotions, both good and bad, to their advantage if they want to complete their search for a cure and save their pal.

… Papo & Yo … one of the best games to come out this year.
Kotaku

Will stick with you long after you finish.
WIRED Magazine

Like a hard-to-interpret dream that you just can’t shake when you wake up, your mind will keep coming back to Papo & Yo long after many other cookie-cutter action games have faded from your memory. For that alone, it’s worth investing a bit of your time and money. -

The team at Minority set out to make an emotionally compelling, creative game, and they succeeded. Even if Papo & Yo didn’t have its roots in reality, it would still be an enjoyable experience, but the way that the real world events are interwoven into the fantastical story make it truly stand out, in a way that most games don’t even attempt. -
MTV

[Papo & Yo] tells an incredibly personal story about love, loss, and growth that serves as an example of how far the video game medium has come as an art form. Like any good story, the ending leaves some room for interpretation, and it can serve as a focal point for discussions for a while to come.
- PlayStation Lifestyle

But as a curio, a breath of fresh creative intent and a piece of leftfield storytelling, Papo & Yo beats games with ten times the budget and manpower.
- Official PlayStation Magazine UK

We never anticipated journalists sharing their own deeply personal stories in response to Papo & Yo, and there have been some amazing pieces such as the ones below.

Papo & Yo (or Papo y Yo, loosely translated to Dad and Me) is about a different type of alcoholic relationship than the one I had growing up, but all the same, I recognize my ten year old self in it.
– Colette Bennett, Joystiq

Papo & Yo made me realize how much good can come from hardships, and how video games are just as capable of emanating such personal emotions.
- Erika Szabo, Gameranx

It’s one thing to say a game has affected people, it’s another to see it actually happening.
