In OverSpace Odyssey, you assume the role of a lone space pilot in a small cruiser. By manually operating your ship from the inside, you explore the unknown.
Here's a closer view of the new texture for the planet in sector 3, on the outside of the ship. I was trying to go for a more stylized look for it.
Sweet! Can't wait to explore it. You've mentioned wanting "seamless planet landings" before, maybe non-seamless is the way to go for now. Maybe have the game load a 'minecraft/3079 style' random land generation when the player deploys a probe, then let them explore a limited area (as the probe) to collect resources/meet alien races. Just a suggestion lol!
Do you have a kickstarter/donate button or anything?
Doing a planet in the style of minecraft \ 3079 isn't a bad idea. I guess I would prefer making the terrain smoothed. But yeah, larger planets (like even planets a 3rd of the size of earth) couldn't have the entirety of it be feasibly explorable (and usefully explorable). So yeah, good point about segmenting the planets into manageable chunks!
I think for this planet, since its pretty much a small moon, allowing a rover to roam around wouldn't be too hard to do. I just need to work out how the spherical gravity would be coded.
As for kickstarter \ donations. At this point, I'm trying to get the demo to be more presentable. That way it can be a good launch pad to market a larger and commercialized version of the game to a publisher. But thanks for asking about this, so far you're the first! I appreciate the interest.
Oh and thanks for posting your suggestions \ comments!
